Need advice please: Have you ever applied to a role on LinkedIn or ZipRecruiter, see that your application gets downloaded, or even get a “thumbs up” on ZipRecruiter, and then they don’t reach out to you for so much as a 10 minute phone screen? Is there anything I can do to get them to respond to me? I’ve tried reaching out to the hiring managers, job posters etc. and no luck! 😞
I do however as long as your title is realistic any variation is acceptable, there are too many to keep track of.
Levels vary across organizations… L5 at Google is different than L5 at Meta… and not all organizations use levels… so it’s not exactly a universally understandable piece of information.
Also sometimes posting your level can end up under levelling you during an interview… if you’re an L4 they’ll assume to hire you as L4 even though you may come off as L5 or L6 capabilities
As someone who looks at product designer resumes - I don’t look for level in titles - I look for evidence of their contribution to a design outcome
some early career designers making great contributions - and some experienced people who’ve gotten a little comfortable
Yes - link to portfolio and description of how contribution map to outcomes are great ways to demonstrate outcomes described in a resume
It’s Ok to try and not have a great outcome - I believe in continuous learning - how someone learns from the outcome it is what I want to know
On LinkedIn I would say “senior designer” or something like that, on my resume I would specify my level
I keep my role updated as close I can. As others mentioned, levels and roles can vary widely across companies. Sharing it on linkedin/resume is still good because recruiters generally know how those transfer across companies which can help them find you
