Do y’all put the level of your title in your LinkedIn or resume? Say Product Designer I, Product Designer II or Product Designer lll?

Posting as :

You are currently posting as works at

I do however as long as your title is realistic any variation is acceptable, there are too many to keep track of.

like

Levels vary across organizations… L5 at Google is different than L5 at Meta… and not all organizations use levels… so it’s not exactly a universally understandable piece of information.

like

Also sometimes posting your level can end up under levelling you during an interview… if you’re an L4 they’ll assume to hire you as L4 even though you may come off as L5 or L6 capabilities

As someone who looks at product designer resumes - I don’t look for level in titles - I look for evidence of their contribution to a design outcome

some early career designers making great contributions - and some experienced people who’ve gotten a little comfortable

like

Yes - link to portfolio and description of how contribution map to outcomes are great ways to demonstrate outcomes described in a resume

It’s Ok to try and not have a great outcome - I believe in continuous learning - how someone learns from the outcome it is what I want to know

On LinkedIn I would say “senior designer” or something like that, on my resume I would specify my level

I keep my role updated as close I can. As others mentioned, levels and roles can vary widely across companies. Sharing it on linkedin/resume is still good because recruiters generally know how those transfer across companies which can help them find you

Loll my friend asked me who my interviewer at a tech company was and it ended up that he was best friends with my interviewer.

So then my friend randomly hits up the interviewer and he tells my bff that I did great but they have to finish interviewing all the other candidates that HR sent them. I was apparently super well prepared, but one of the first people to get sent through to that round so....is this promising or should I not get my hopes up? Need advice please: Have you ever applied to a role on LinkedIn or ZipRecruiter, see that your application gets downloaded, or even get a “thumbs up” on ZipRecruiter, and then they don’t reach out to you for so much as a 10 minute phone screen? Is there anything I can do to get them to respond to me? I’ve tried reaching out to the hiring managers, job posters etc. and no luck! 😞

Not sure what's wrong with these new age / gen kids who just finish graduation and follow it with a tier 2 mba degree and then after 1-2 years in an entry level service based role start asking for strategy consulting roles in interviews, i mean its okay to try, but one should learn the required skills and then try, not the other way round!

Dear Bowl Members,

I beleive all the members of this group are in the communication and branding industry - a field where proactive communication and community participation ideally should be the highest but it's not so as of now. Instead, consulting, tech, developer bowls are more active than this bowl.

I request all of you to be proactive and spend 15 minutes a day or every two days to answer the queries posted by members. We can make a difference to someone's life/career with a response.

4. Wht was the most challenging part of this project.
