Cringeworthy comment
Other way round in terms of the value delivered per hour. Value delivered by an employee per hour > value delivered by a consultant.
What’s done is done. don’t sweat it.
Going forward: I don’t know if I would personally claim “its worth 2-3x” but there are more nuanced / discreet ways to share a similar idea in an interview. Eg focusing on the 360degree business perspective you were able to get across functions, or how you’re constantly working with Senior Leadership on key strategic problems... all things that someone who would’ve spent a couple of years in one department doing the “day to day” stuff would not have had the opportunity to experience and learn from.
Yiiiiiikes. Also, possibly. It really depends on the experience.
cringeworthy comment, however I took a break from consulting for a couple years and accomplished more in my first three months back than my entire two years away
I’ve done industry and consulting.. Felt experiences in consulting were sometimes better and sometimes not.. really depends but If you’re just putting together status documents and/PMO’ing, absolutely not
And/or^
Unlikely at big 4. Im in same boat so I ll be straight. No one gives a eff you consulted at big 4 when you are going for m7. We are a dime in a dozen lol
No I don’t think it is - too general.
No, I don’t think so
I wouldn’t say that out loud. It’s true for sure but it’s like saying partners are smarter than admins. Like we all know it’s true but shitty to say out loud
We don’t all know that partners are smarter than admins. Wtf kinda thing is that to think? That doesn’t even make sense.
Depends on what other experiences you have. Yes you learned a lot from all the engagements in a year but maybe not because in 2-3 years in industry you probably would have gotten promoted and gained more leadership responsibilities (I did anyway).
Let your experience speak for itself.
i would only say this to emphasize the sheer number of hours you worked in B4 so that they know you’re willing to do whatever it takes. really not something you should focus on though - more like a humorous comment - e.g. “well, i did 4 years in PwC tax, which is pretty much like 8 years in terms of the hours i worked”
I think it really depends on if your interviewer was Big Four... or somewhere like an Accenture. JK
