Do you consider training of contractors to perform a job to company standards co-employment? Curious to know….

It more depends on whether the job they’re doing is core to the business’s primary purpose and whether there are also FTEs doing the same job

We don't where I work but I can see it from that perspective easily.

Yes, if they are being offered company training, then they are a part of the company.

Once an HR manager told me that if employees keep company laptops there’s literally nothing the business can do about it and I have no clue why they’d share that information because I’ve passed it on to almost everyone I know who ends up quitting and keeps their work-assigned MacBook. No company protective software either.

What do you think is a realistic salary for a HR Manager with 12 years experience in small companies (80-200 employees), MBA, SHRM-SCP in Hampton Roads VA area?

I have a dilemma. I lead a recruiting team in a consulting group and we are having trouble meeting our numbers. We are under pressure to deliver and we have been working together to make our numbers grow. Today I find out that one of the recruiters went to HR to say I have been pressuring them too much. I have a lead on my team who I discussed this with who doesn’t think there has been pressure at all. Suggestions ? I don’t know who the person is.

Hi all!

Hello please can I find Victoria’s boot camp I keep hearing about this being great to study for shrm exam but I can’t find it anywhere thank you

I'm looking for a part-time job in HR, preferably remote and if possible at my own time... I know it may be too much to ask but I'm currently working full time and in need of additional income.
Anyone know if something like this is available?
Don't need benefits or perks but definitely additional earnings.

Hi! Anyone taken SHRM-CP exam recently and have any tips on studying or taking the exam? TIA.

Does anyone have the 2020 SHRM books for sale or to borrow? My job won’t contribute towards my certification. I’ve already paid for my test. I have the books from 2015 but I’d like to study from the 2020. I tried finding them online to purchase but sellers of affordable books aren’t responding.

Looking for a new HR opportunity in the Madison, WI area, or remote work. Any leads out there? 19 years experience, SHRM-SCP certified. Tons of employee relations, talent development, benefits, payroll, experience! Still growing in comp administration, and enjoying aligning people strategies to organizational goals and objectives.

I’m hoping to transition into Benefits one day in the near future. However, when passively looking at positions in the speciality, they are always Benefits Specialists with 10+ years required. Any advice? Or alternative job titles to search for?

Have you ever changed your mind a week after turning down the job offer? It’s so hard when you’ve got small children getting sick all the time and you want to start fresh with no PTO.

But I just called their HR Dept to ask if the job is still available. They just signed a contract with a temp agency. However, they’re looking into reversing it and will let me know.
Where would I go from here??? I’d essentially be giving my boss less than a week’s notice. And I look flippant. :(

Interested to see some perspectives - currently working at a Payroll & Benefits Specialist at a fast growing company and recently passed my PHR! I just started this role only a few months ago but am already feeling like I can take on more, but not as much as a HR manager. I’m struggling to understand where exactly it is I can go from here. I’m 25, have 3 years of experience, and get paid $59k/year.

Where does one go from here? Thanks in advance for any and all answers!

Finally got a job offer to be an HR manager (I’d be a department of one) after 5 weeks unemployed of hard searching and connecting with recruiters. However, when I told them my salary range of $75-95k (my last job was 95k) they told me the budget was 65-80 which was fine. Verbal offer was $70k. I feel a little disrespected by this offer and want to counter with $80k. There’s many red flags already but UI may require I accept in which case I’m gonna keep job searching despite the salary. Advice?

I have two questions. I have 10 years of experience in multiple sectors and I have been trying to gain a leadership position. I am attempting my PHR this summer but what are some tips in order for me to obtain a leadership position? Also, how long does it take to obtain another position out of state? I am trying to move to Houston but I don’t want to move until I am confident I can obtain a position in the city before packing up and leaving.

If you recently passed the SHRM CP exam, how much of a pay increase did you receive from your company? (%) Trying to figure out what is a reasonable ask on my end. Thanks in advance!!
