Do you do any kind of holiday gifting at your firm? If so, what form does that take?

Am holiday a offer of 25F + 10% V but Optum is still offering a max of 22.5F+15%V. Am disappointing that Optum is paying so low than all others in market. Was expecting higher from Optum given it is a product based and a captive of UHG. HR trying to convince me that i will have great learning at Optum. Please share your option.

My supervising partner keeps encouraging me to take vacation time. Everyone else in my group has taken several vacations recently.
However, my hours hit rock bottom for several months at the beginning of Covid. It is impossible for me to reach my annual target this year. I have the ability to bill 50+ hours over my monthly target now.

I’m planning a destination wedding in Europe, and I’m assuming the guests who join us will likely stay for a week + and make a vacation out of it. With that in mind, is the week of Memorial Day a great choice since people will have the additional day off, or rude since people might have other plans? I’m a 2nd year associate at a V50 firm. I lateraled about four months ago. Within weeks after I started, it became clear that one mid level associate doesn’t like me, and the other mid levels on my team do. This particular mid level is dismissive and has a superior attitude; gives terrible instructions and then gets upset when I follow those instructions and they don’t get the result they want; has given bad feedback about me to my boss; and lately has just stopped responding to my emails. Wife and kid are going to be out of town for the next 2 weeks. Instead of wasting time, I’d like to do something productive. What would you do if you have say 3+ hours a day. Maybe self help, wealth creation type books, work out daily, take care of some things around the house.

PwC partners - One of my biggest takeaways is that Directors aren’t taken care of appropriately in the firm. That includes lack of focus on their mental health, their work-life balance, unreasonable metrics, comp and bonus increases, how cohort progression is managed and transparency about the PCLDE process. This is based on my 4+ yrs as a D and talking to several folks at or outside CLEX. Several of us leave due to this - just sharing this feedback to consider.
