You know what? I had never thought about this, but now that you mention it, I feel like you're onto something!
There's this one guy who's become friends with me through chat support. Whenever he sends a request for something and it's me who takes it, he gets super excited and goes out of his way to ask about my day. I think he's pretty old and that's maybe why he's so friendly, but he's a cool guy.
Yes, it can definitely feel that way when someone calls customer support! It's so important to be understanding and empathetic in these situations. After all, we've all been there before - feeling lonely and needing someone to talk to.
It's nice to take a moment out of our busy lives to help someone else who may be struggling with something. At the same time, it can also be draining if those conversations take up too much of our time. That's why it's important to recognize when someone needs a little extra attention or care, but also set boundaries so that we don't wear ourselves out trying to meet everyone's needs.
As long as they don't interfere with your job, I don't think there should be an issue. I, for one, take a couple minutes to chat with customers if I feel like that's what they want, so I'm okay with this :)
