Do you ever have intellectual conversations? What are they about? Do you need deep knowledge on a subject? Feel like my convos are only about pop culture, advertising and politics. Boring! Help.

You can have a deep conversation about any topic if you can think critically and ask questions openly to whomever you are talking with. Find more interesting people to talk to or focus on something the other person knows a lot about that isn’t one of those topics you don’t enjoy

Very well put!

Just read the New Yorker.

There is a limited amount of fresh water on our planet. And In NY, porters clean the side walks in front of their buildings almost every day (except winter of course). Then there are golf courses in desert areas which require enormous amounts of water to stay green; and the list goes on...

Yes. About peak gas. The climate. Medical topics. The meaning of existence. How to live a meaningful life. Nature of man. Books. Role of technology in culture and future. Etc etc. if you don’t get that but want it, marry someone interesting and read more

Quantum entanglement is seriously mind boggling and worth discussing. I also recommend listening to NPR. Half of what I say about not work I heard there.

Sounds like the common denominator is you. I suggest buying a some float tanks sessions to remove the distraction and work out what you are really interested in. Then start reading. The conversations will follow

But the float tanks is a good idea. They are wonderful

I joined a class at Brooklyn Poets having no prior experience. Met lovely people of all ages who had nothing to do with advertising.

This looks so cool! Do you have to take all the courses at each level before moving on, or can you jump around?

Stuck between 2 offers, which would you choose? Eventually I want to work in ML/AI or blockchain/crypto

Offer 1: Non-profit financial advisor, awesome culture, design process & ethos align with mine, but still beholden to some outdated backend systems. Basically won't be able to innovate for a while

Offer 2: Consultancy focused on spinning up startups in large corp. Seems like cool work but I know very little about the culture/ process. Very sales-y HR but haven't talked to designers yet

Hi Everyone,
Any suggestions on networking in the private finance sector?
I recently transitioned from public to private sector finance to be more well-rounded and I’m having a hard time connecting with people in the space. I work for a fund admin in the digital asset space for HF & PE/VC firms and I noticed how much “bro culture” seems to impact the industry. Networking is hard enough working from home but I know how important it is to make those connections.

When choosing a company to work or move to, what benefits you care about the most post the very obvious ones (pay, promotion, title, culture etc.) - wondering how companies are trying to win the talent war so any input (even if random) is welcome :)
