Do you ever think that being let go could be the worst thing in your life?

If so, don’t!

I was let go by Accenture recently and this turned out to be the best thing in my life.

I landed to my new role in FAANG with almost 70% increase in compensation where I will no longer feel stuck in my career with no-value creating staff augmentation roles.

And now it is time for me to have a reputable brand in my resume.

Never give up and be “truly” yourself to reach your goals. No more “up or out” BS.

Thanks, that is right.

If there was no such a trigger, I would continue my miserable life at the company.

Now I feel very motivated and I am happy to be able to make a transition to the industry with such a bump in compensation.

I hope anyone in a similar situation can experience the same transition and feel more secure both financially and mentally.

A friend of mine got laid off at an airline and is now at FAANG.

like

How did you frame your unemployment when you interviewed? Getting laid off is one of my biggest fears....

likehelpful

Market is already aware of the lay-offs. 30-40 million people were unemployed at some point.

I saw that big companies like FAANG doesn’t care about whether or not you are employed at the time of application but more interested in the value, experience you can bring in.

I interviewed with almost all big tech companies and none of the interviewers asked why I left my company. They wanted to understand the experience I gained during my tenure.

But frankly speaking there were some small scale companies which were not mature in hiring process and their interviewers more interested in your personal story rather than professional one.

likehelpful

You wouldn't have even gotten the interview at FAANG if it wasn't for your past experience, so I'd say Accenture is a reputable brand. Also, please continue to work on your writing skills, your grammar is all over the place.

Congrats, but be more considerate of the fact that job loss may be worse for others than it was for you for a variety of reasons, and most laid off people don't wind up with a 70% comp bump in FAANG.

So you were doing well until you threw that flex in there.

Its hard to hear you got laid off from Accenture. However, I am glad that you bounced back stronger

Accenture had 5-10% workforce reduction over 3-4 months without naming those as lay-offs. They claimed everyone who got separated had performance issue. It was just their strategy to seem nice to the market. 🙂

Congratulations on your next step in your career. I know and understand why you are bitter. I'm happy you found a great next step.

I do hope at some point you find that you learned something while at Accenture.

If you ever get frustrated in the new job, use this experience to know that you can move forward to even something better at that point. ACN is my 8th company. I left some with a bitter taste, but later found I did learn and grow even in those.

Thanks MD1.

For sure, Accenture taught me a lot to navigate the ambiguity both internally and externally as well as to play politics. These are all transferable skills which I can leverage in the future. 👍🏻

Op what kind of role did you land?

Hey folks! Would appreciate a referral! Can anyone help? ☺️

When a new type of project comes in and you get assigned as the PM to “figure out” the project plan, how do you go about resource allocation? Sometimes I struggle to know what the team configuration should even be, because we’ve never done said project type before. It’s hard to know what type of people should be assigned, and at what % time, when there isn’t a preexisting process or work breakdown structure for the deliverables I’m being handed to “manage.” How do/would you handle?

EY India is hiring for technology consulting - analytics. If anyone is interested, pls DM. Will refer. Thanks

The Way to a Higher Salary? Leave.

If I had stayed in the role I was in originally and grown with it, I’d be making maybe $120k, best case. I also wouldn’t have broken 6-figures in under 4 years by waiting.

The biggest lie that companies tell you is you can grow in a firm, both professionally and financially. The only ones that grow are already the people a) getting the promotions, or b) on the sales side.

If neither applies to you, the fastest way to achieve salary growth is to leave.
