Not if they work at the same company. But generally way more tier 1 grads in top companies

For hiring I would say yes, for every other case it's about skill and throughput and degree is basically irrelevant compared to that. The exception would be a PhD. working in a field they specifically studied IMO.

I don't notice a huge difference other than people from T1 schools tend to be very self confident. And there simply tend to be more of them especially at the junior levels since the "top 10 CS" schools or whatever are all targets for big tech

More so that they have resources specifically dedicated to landing in top tech companies that most other schools don’t

Hello everyone!
I recently found out that I was being paid less than everyone in the team (more than 25% gap to more expe teammates, around 15% less than new hires)
We all had the same responsibilities, I consider I even had a heavier workload (talking in past tense since I very recently made an internal move).
Things to consider:
On a work visa
Non-white
Non-male
What would you recommend doing?
Keeping it to myself?
Speaking up? How? With who?

-TIA

Hi all, I’m wrapping up my first year in audit and am looking to a potential exit in sales - I have my CPA exams passed but don’t have the 1 year experience quite yet. I have a final round interview for an entry level SaaS sales role with a first year base of ~75k and 20-30k in commissions assuming I meet my targets. I have a feeling if I secure the position, I won’t be able to delay the start date before I hit my 1 year experience mark. I want the credential but don’t want to pass this up.

I’m a mentor for a summer associate who I believe could be a great lawyer here (V100, small market if that matters). However, it is apparent he has no understanding of technology (redlines, word, excel). Based on his background, I believe it’s due to a lack of access. Would you ever recommend to your firm that he be given a course to catch up? Should I try and get him training on my own? Stay out of it? I dont want to overstep but believe this would help him as this puts him way behind his peers

I left Education and started on my software company's small Automation team October 2019. Our immediate supervisor/head of QA left Thanksgiving. Now my only other team member put in his notice. My company doesn't have QA pay levels and my title is inaccurate (JR QA Analyst). I am told to research what I feel my salary should be and dicuss with new head of QA after they start in a couple weeks. Leaving out advice to find another company, any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

I’m curious to know if anyone has experience working part-time in architecture? I have been working for large international firms in NYC for the past 10 years. So I work all day every day. Any recommendations?

IC vs Manager. Are there major pay differences between the two? Right now, I have been offered a Principal Data Architect role which is the same pay as the Sr Mgr. I would be moving from a people manager to more of an IC role. Which is better for long term growth? Do you have to move to people management to move far in a company? I feel like at a start up it is better to be an IC due to the chaos of managing expectations at a startup. Hiring in a smaller startup is close to impossible.
