Do you feel more secure working in the federal sector? I’d like to leave, but I’m worried if the economy tanks, I have a high risk of being laid off…

Yeah — def more secure in fed

I got cut. LMI has *no* kinds of security for periods of federal befutzery. "Thanks for nearly killing yourself on that last project; as a reward, you are invited to leave as we can't figure out how to get more work."

How big is LMI? They don’t have other projects going on to staff you?

During a recession, the federal government spends. Nothing to worry about.

Cleared technical positions are always more secure during recession.

I really debated about getting in on the consulting signing bonus craze last year. But I decided to stay fed because I knew a recession was likely. Not regretting that.

Having similar thoughts :/. not sure about where you work but is there a commercial sector you can transfer to?

Yes I do.

Last recession, the public sector part of the business carried the commercial part. I expect the same to happen this time around as well.

Are we expecting an recession?!

I do. It seems to be harder to get laid off or fired once you have tenure. I wouldn't leave if I wer eyou.

Yes, with a caveat that in my personal experience and observations, it really depends on the size of the company.

If you're working for a small contractor, especially one that only has one or two contracts, the job security can be quite iffy. If you're working for one of the large firms (e.g. Deloitte, BAH, AFS, etc), job security is usually pretty darn good.

Yes, that why I went and received a TS with poly. I didn’t want the extensive background check, but my manager said is best to have in a bad economy. I would never have to worry about a job.

I’m a current senior graduating from a top public school, and I am debating on whether to accept an offer to a masters (non mba) to an Ivy League. One of the factors into my decision is what is the propensity that the resume gets pulled for on campus mbb recruiting, given that undergrads are probably applying as well? I have big brand internships already, and my undergrad school probably scores a 2/3 for brand name. Will recruiting teams put more emphasis on your latest or 1st degree?

If a recruiter asks for 2 references, should I only give 2 or canu give more? And should I give more?

Im currently in industry, and found a role at a competing company, where my previous manager who exited is the hiring manager. We haven’t talked since, but I want to contact her to see if she would be open to interviewing me...problem is she’s very tight with my current manager/team. How bad would that look?
