Do you feel that brief creation and note taking/post meeting notes fall under account or pm responsibilities?

Briefs are Strategy, Planning, or Account if the first two aren’t scoped. Recaps and action items are fully PM. I will say that if it’s a heavily influenced meeting by discipline (e.g. tech heavy, production heavy) I always ask my team to please contribute in a shared notes doc like Google Docs so that we’re all aligned as the meeting happens and we can get immediate clarity on questions. Super helpful if it’s a new field you don’t have experience in

Account and Planning do briefs. PM yes notes, next steps and timing. However, I like to run notes by Account in case there's anything else they like to add.

like

PM here. I encourage all attendees who aren't presenting or actively participating in a discussion to take notes as decisions are made or questions are raised that relate to their discipline e.g. UX designer takes notes on business logic or research; Tech takes notes on tech; etc. If it's a listening session, I encourage everyone to take notes.

In either case, I am taking notes that capture the general spirit of the meeting -- Decisions, Next Steps, Open Questions, Misc. -- and I'll distribute these to the internal team afterward inviting others to add/edit/amend based on their own notes. Or, when pressed for time, I'll encourage all team members to just dump their raw notes on me via email and I'll take 20 minutes to synthesize and share back out.

Finally, I'll quickly consult with the Account lead to distill these synthesized notes into an even shorter communication, focused on what we need next from the client to help keep our team unblocked and working away.

like

if there is an AE in the room they take notes and distribute. Always. The cheapest hourly rate attendee from Account or PM owns the note taking as it is impossible to lead the meeting and take notes for more senior attendees.

like

Little of column A and a little of column B

like

Both should always take notes. Account owns the structure of the brief, PMs contribute.

like

I take notes (for myself) but it’s usually the AE/AP who owns contact reports. I + Account lead will contribute relevant information.

like

At traditional agency the AE always creates the client conference report with next steps and cc’s the client. And the PM does the internal meeting notes. At most digital agencies I’ve worked for, there are vary rarely client conference reports and the PM’s do the meetings notes. And often no one does them because everyone is stretched so thin. A good PM that can take notes during the meeting like a transcriber is stellar

like

Brief making = Strategy if it’s a conceptual assignment. Brief making = Account if it’s a very tactical assignment. Note taking = PM if it’s an internal meeting moving the project along. Note taking = Account if it’s a client meeting.

like

It’s been different for me in different places on briefs. Note taking has always been PM though.

I accepted the offer and started working for this agency and now 6 months in they are asking me also do Wireframes and Content planning together with a project manager role as their team is super small and they do not have dedicated ux/ui and seo members in place.I said that is not my part of the job and parted.

I started a new full-time job 3 months ago. My teammates only escalate small mistakes to my boss; I rarely get positive feedback on the things I go above and beyond on. I have a review coming up this week, and I don’t feel secure. A role that I applied to pre-covid became available. I got a verbal offer last week. Should I leave a full-time gig for a temp-perm one? I’ve killed myself to implement constructive feedback but I’m scared it wouldn’t be enough.
