I am a Principal Solutions Architect with 13 YOE of which 5 years exp is with Biotech focusing on Public Cloud (AWS) & overall AWS exp. 9 years. I need suggestions /opinions if applying for a Senior Solutions Architect (Level6) at AWS makes sense or if I should aim for a Principal SA (level 7) role at AWS with Healthcare & Lifesciences industry experience. If it makes any difference, I worked for AWS ProServe as an external SA in the past. Any insights / feedback appreciated.

They talk a good talk, but when it comes to action, there's little to nothing being done. It's beyond frustrating.
I agree. Lots of talk, not much action.
Not at all. Our counselors are too busy dealing with schedules, lunch duty, and who knows what else.
We have excellent counselors, but there are not enough of them to deal with students that are in crisis.

No, and a group of parents have been donating to and following the talking points of a local PAC that claims we don’t need any mental health help or SEL. Just teach the 3 Rs. 🤦♀️

I hear you on that! My district is the same. Some parents think if they throw money or “gadgets” at their child, all problems will disappear.

I think schools should not be tasked with and responsible/accountable for mental health issues.

And in the meantime???
Nope
My students do not trust our counselors for help. They would rather talk to me, but I don't have the right training for that. When I suggest they go to the counselor, most of them outright refuse. The counselors at our school are nice people but they do not know our students very well. Mental health is brought up all the time but we don't really do much about it.
I feel the same way. The counselors at my building are lively people, but don’t seem to want to meet with kids or have any groups to help mental health issues.

I am SO sorry that you have absolutely no one to go to, to vent about the student with, to share all your marvelous strategies/accommodations with, to share parent contacts etc. I’m sorry that you don’t have someone who will take it off your shoulders; someone who will see any and all students you deem necessary. I’m heartbroken that this isn’t carrying more weight in the schools. We also need to shed light on this problem on a national level.
!
Absolutely not
Most school psychologists could address some issues but they’re often pigeonholed into sped assessments with huge caseloads. 🤷🏽♀️🤷🤷🏽♂️
I think teachers can express our concerns but it’s up to the parents to get help for their child.
Sometime I feel we need to find a better balance. Yes, we do need to meet students with compassionate hearts & sympathetic ears, but we are not mental health care givers, we are educators first and that must take the lead. It all comes down to personal responsibility with the first line of impact starting at home. We need to educate parents & their kids to not put it all on us.
Not at all.

Years ago we had a 4th grader die by suicide. It does happen.

I address the mental health concerns in my building. Kids are frequently referred to me for this reason. Most people do not!
So glad to hear this. So happy they have someone to speak to, honestly.
Not a dang thing. They’re doing nothing. They didn’t address the Texas shooting; they acted like it was a totally normal day.

No, not even close!
