Do you get to store stuff like drinks, milk, iced coffee at a fridge at work? Do you trust that your coworkers are not stealing from you? Just started at a new place and the fridges are available but I am suspicious, lol

I think you have every right to be suspicious! There are so many stories of food and whole lunches being stolen.

We have a communal fridge and I put my lunchbox in every day. So far nothing has been stolen. I don't store anything long term though. We're a small team, but still!

We just keep our stuff separate but we are open to sharing. Unfortunately, we have to keep it this way because some people eat all the food they can find in the fridge. One said they just assumed it was the company that put food stuff in the communal fridge for everyone to take at their own discretion. Hopefully, your colleagues will be better behaved lol.

I just have a closed lunchbox I put in our work fridge. That way there is no question about it, that is somebody’s food! I have heard a story here that somebody was stealing food and lunches, but it happened and was resolved before I even started. The office lore! Makes sense to be suspicious, every place is different.

I'll usually label anything in the fridge that I'm leaving in there long term. As far as I know everyone seems to be respectful of not taking anything from the fridge that isn't theirs, I've never been put in a situation where I had to ask someone to take my food or drinks.

Yes we are able to store stuff in the fridge but we have to put our name on it. They do weekly fridge clean outs and if your name and date isn't on it, it gets thrown out so they can keep the frige clean. Thankfully we have not had any issues with people stealing things from the fridge.

I never did just stored my lunch. People are definitely going to drink it if it’s a large container.

I do am mostly trusting

Are you responsible for giving performance feedback? Avoid giving personality based feedback. Examples include telling an Asian person they are too quiet/shy or telling a Black person they are agressive/abrasive. DO NOT DO THIS. It clearly represents bias in Performance Management. Performance feedback should be tied to business outcomes with clear examples of what the person does well + how they can improve.

I lead a pretty good size team. One of the managers that I have under me, manages a team of 6 writers. This manager literally bites his nails/nail beds every day. Like to the point where they bleed. I have a direct report who is smart, passionate about her job and can be really innovative. However she carries this enormous weight of responsibility, for needing to do everything, do it right, make sure it's perfect, not trusting colleagues to help. It creates dread and panic and overwhelming workload and a terrible attitude for her and I am speaking with her this week to start to shift her mindset. Any tips in navigating how to let go of this heavy idea of "responsibility"?

I feel like I am never taken seriously by people at work (left out of the loop on things, ignored, spoken over). I guess it must be some vibe I am giving out, but I don't know how to fix 😞

Frustrating… I don’t like my associate
He’s been on the project for 6 months and doesn’t do anything and isn’t willing to learn anything but some how is still employed . I’m not the type to get someone fired and you know … have prbs paying bills . So I haven’t professionally complained about him but for F*** sake I’m losing my patience … feeling guilty to take his bread and complain … looking for new project … idk what to do

Is there a corporate way to bring up to senior leaders that an IC is causing issues across multiple teams because they are demanding and also doesn’t collaborate well? The IC gives vague “direction” then says they are too busy to clarify. They also refuse to use our project management/ collaboration tools.

My ASM is lazy and is incapable of doing the easiest basic tasks with recruitment. She receives all my end of day updates, is cc’d on all emails, makes me fill out 5 repetitive excel/smart sheet, and joins all my meetings but she still wants to call having me 5x daily about updates. I’m always the one to go to if other recruiters fail to meet client deadlines and cleaning up recruiters mistakes. How do I even handle this to begin with?

I just had a mental slip up and said some really concerning things to my team on a call. I’m feeling very anxious about it and I feel dumb - I wish I hadn’t said anything.

Is this an endless cycle where leaders don’t want to pay staff/seniors enough since they aren’t producing like previous staff/seniors. Staff/seniors don’t stay because they want more money for the amount of hours they work compared to other jobs/careers. Thoughts?

Hello everyone! This is my first time posting since joining this platform. I’m interested in connecting with someone who is open to HR mentoring. I’ve been in HR now for about six years and have never had a mentor. I’ve been relying mostly on SHRM and other people in the company for feedback. Even if it’s for feedback, I would really appreciate it. Thank you!
