Besides Booz Allen being in tier 2 (don’t think they even do strategy), would say pretty accurate.
But always feel that tiers are very industry subjective…in TMT, Altman Solon might be better than most tier 2 shops listed here. In FS, OW probably competes closely with MBB and is far ahead of any other tier 2 shop. In HCLS, LEK/ZS/Clearview are probably better than most tier 2 shops and even Bain (considering Bain’s lack of presence in LS)
So in conclusion…. It depends :)

I’ve had a 30 year career and can unequivocally say to anybody: Go to the place that pays you well, allows for WLB, treats you with respect, and gives you opportunities to grow.
That’s all that matters. Not this prestige/tiering nonsense (it’s been around forever and was useless then as it is now).

I’ll take Tier whatever for enough pay and slightly better WLB.

The tiers basically correspond with compensation though for the most part — on average, MBB pays the most, followed by T2 and finally T3

Sure, but it's kind of high end staff aug. I know a few people in security that get paid bank at Booz. If I thought I could get clearance, I would have pursued it.

This list must have been made by someone in the Middle East because Booz Allen is only a “tier 2” boutique firm in the Middle East, and maybe in whatever commercial cyber projects they have in the US and elsewhere.
Bain isn’t actually In the same same tier as McKinsey and BCG in most places outside of the US…
I remember when I was considering em recruiting in Europe 5+ years ago it was RB, McKinsey, BCG

Hot take, “Tiers” is a stupid, shallow, fictitious concept but if you put a gun to my head, I’d say there are only 2 Tiers: MBB/Not MBB.
I don’t agree with the concept of “Tiering” at all, but what I do know is the creation of a more in depth ladder/industry matrix is an effort by non-MBB people to shit on other non-MBB people to feel superior and less shitty about not being MBB themselves. Most of these people work for Deloitte.

Now explain this - the big 4 are 4-5 times the revenue of every other firm on this thing. How is that the 3rd tier?
@SA1, regarding your statement on working at accounting firms, I am quite sure most of us here have not. This ranking is for strategy consulting and not accounting so your statement makes no sense. Just in case you didn’t know, strategy& and Parthenon are the strategy consulting arms of PwC and EY which are in T2, the other consulting functions in big 4 don’t do as much (if any) strategy work and that’s why they fall into T3. To quote you - literally look this up and you’re going to feel so stupid :)

If by tier 2, you mean every other firm. Then yes, that about right. And, add a tier 4 for Accenture
