Do you guys apply to jobs when you don't meet all the basic qualifications listed in a job posting?

If I meet 50%, I apply.
Current role I met around 50-75% at best.
Consultants in particular can get invited to interviews even with less than the required qualifications

like

As an extra note, I remember reading that your chances of getting an interview stagnate at around 60% of qualifications being met, going higher doesn’t significantly increase your odds.

Standard recommendation is meet 80%

I have 1.5 and was contacted for a role that stated 3 required

Follow up - where does years of experience play in. Anyone had success applying to jobs asking for 4-5 years when they only have 2?

As long as i can learn it on the job, i would apply

Yes.

Yes, if you meet all (instead of 60-80%) the qualifications, there's no room for you to grow. Companies think about their exact needs for a role in terms of day to day, not what the person will become in the future. If you're a "perfect" fit, consider trying to stretch for one level higher

Does anyone else have a LinkedIn addiction or obsession? I’m off all other social media, but lately I find myself thinking about what would make the best LinkedIn profile, and its impacting how I view or consider career choices. Question for senior female bosses. I have an opportunity to network with a senior woman across the pond - what, from your perspective, makes for a good mentor/mentee relationship? My only female mentor is my direct boss and my other mentors are senior men that I’ve known for years and have a relaxed / friendly relationship with.

I really want to get the most out of this but haven’t built a formal relationship with a senior woman before (particularly with a culture difference)

So I’ve been with FAANG for 5 years (I’m 30 y/o). I’m pretty comfortable with my situation. Got average grades at a good undergrad university, total comp ~300k. I’m debating Ivy League MBA. I don’t think it’ll benefit me at FAANG, but I’d like to start a company eventually. Worth it?

An MBA recent grad. I signed with MBB last year. However, I have always wanted to do tech PM. I couldn’t find PM job in Fall and just signed MBB offer I have. I recently got an FAANG offer. It’s PM function, hard to break in with consulting experience. I declined the new offer during interview stage and again after they gave me initial offer, but it is coming back with 80k more in annual compensation. It made me so torn!! Should I renege MBB offer?
