I did because I genuinely like them as a person. Doesn’t hurt that you usually get good gifts from them.

No, unless you want them there.

How else do you get married to them then?

Weddings are for friends and family so if you are cool with the partner, sure, invite them. I am sure they will be delighted to come to your wedding.

I was a senior manager when I got married. I invited a few partners who I was close to - they came and it was nice they were there. Now I’m a MD and have attended a couple managers’ weddings and was honored to be included. I’ve also had plenty of people on my teams get married and not invite me (whether they invited no work people, or they invited their peers/friends, but not the “old” folks). 100% did not think anything of it when not invited. Long story short- if you’d like them to celebrate with you, invite them! If not, or you’re keeping guests to just your closest people, that’s perfectly normal too.

Invite them so they send you gift/cash. 99% they won’t go anyway. Call it another PA perk.

I didn’t 7 years ago. And probably wouldn’t today

like

Yes if you are close with them and have been working with them for a long time. I invited 3, two came (even destination wedding) and were thrilled to be there

I did, two people I considered to be friends. I don’t regret it even though I’ve long since transitioned to other roles and soon another firm. If you want them there then invite them, I’m sure they will be flattered if nothing else.

I invited mine years ago. As a partner now I’d be happy to attend weddings of my team members.

I invited my relationship partner and two other partners who I was close with. Only my relationship partner came.

Phew, bet you were relieved. Wouldn't have been much of a wedding without them!

funny

Depends. Didn’t get married during my time in PA, but one partner I was very close with and stayed close with after (he was retired by the time I got married) was invited to mine. He lived in another state and worked in a different office. None of the partners in my home office got invited. I still keep in touch with him today.

I say, invite them, get those gifts!

I invited two partners to my wedding and they gave great gifts! Keep in mind I plan on being a lifer though so I don't plan on looking back at those pictures in 10 years wondering why I invited them to my wedding.

I invited my boss (senior manager) from Deloitte over 15 years ago, I don’t he believe he rsvp’ed and certainly didn’t even give a gift, and not even a card. Lol

I did. And I have been to coworkers weddings that partners were also invited to.

No but I imagine they’d get you a good gift ($$$$)
