Do you guys leave out reading material for your prospects/clients while they wait in your office? Thinking of magazine, newspapers, etc. to keep them occupied and make things less awkward

Smaller Firm Question - how long do you give associates to start making a profit (i.e. doing sufficient billable time that is collectible) before you begin with warnings or termination?

Scenario: 1 Senior associate transferred laterally but did not bring business (this was known), 1 Junior is 3 months in, but seems unable to bill even his own salary, no less enough to cover other overhead. I am billing more than both combined (both hours and $$) and it is driving me crazy.

I’m really having to convince my children’s teachers that wearing masks hinders comprehension and language acquisition. I’m a speech therapist and I’ve got MANY and varied and scientifically supported reasons why the teacher wearing a mask is a barrier to learning, but none of them take it seriously. BAH!

Citi folks - new at citi and just found out that they do not provide laptops 🤯. Now I’m concerned with how the technology is otherwise? How is WLB? Do they reimburse if you purchase a laptop to use? Any insights will be greatly appreciated. TIA

I work in marketing within a small team. Just myself, my manager and a part time designer that I personally manage. My manager doesn’t seem to do much work. He never tells me what he’s working on, provides no instructions, guidance or feedback, and in our weekly standup he will just list out the tasks I am personally working on. It’s a lot on my plate as I handle socials, email marketing and copyrighting, yet he gets a lot of my credit but he’s not doing anything? This is my 1st job.

I’m an FA within the bank channel and have made the mistake of leaving my first firm to go to another. bank program that ended up failing and sold our books to another firm. It’s become harder and harder to grow a book now within the bank channel because of Reg BI and it’s going to take me a decade to grow my book to where I want to be. I’m a CFP and finishing up my MBA. I’m thinking of going to another area of Finance all together like PE. Any suggestions for me? NOT looking to go Independent.

How to manage / work with those who don’t see your vision?

I was hired because my company realises it’s out of touch with younger generations and I come from an arts background with a fresh take on things and am not your typical ‘financial adviser’.

However, all of my creative ideas are blocked and I’m told to tone them down but this is the whole reason they hired me.
