My work life is pretty good
🎯
Sure. My daughter and I do taekwondo together 2 or 3 times a week and earned our black belts last May. We also ride horses on the weekends year round. You have to prioritize what’s important to you.
There’s always going to be people that work more hrs and expect the same from you. What do you say to these people who may value the work>life?
Yep
Yes
Yea unlimited WFH
Not during busy season. The culture at my office is put work first, family and yourself second. I’m expected to be available while I’m at church on Sunday. They were legit pissed at me for not picking up. They know I go to church every Sunday. It’s only a couple hours in the morning. Still livid about it.
Agreed. I work with several orthodox Jewish colleagues and various Muslim colleagues in addition to devout Christians. As an atheist myself, I don’t have religious observances, but understand and recognize the importance of the exercise of faith by my colleagues. Seems unethical at best and illegal at worst to ask people to forgo their spiritual well being for work.
That’s terrible PwC 4. Not typical of the teams I’ve worked with over the last 24 years. I’d address with your RL or HR
If you don’t, you’re working for the wrong people and/ or not communicating well. I work my ass off, but when things outside of work come up that I need or want to attend to, work takes a backseat.
I try to, but its something I've really had to work at over my career
Yes, but I think its cause I'm not a very social person. I just like a couple hours to myself.
Yes - just have to know how to prioritize and get lucky enough to work with others who share those priorities.
Yep.... but I’m old and not looking for advancement, just steady raises until I can GTFO.
