Do you have a personal laptop/computer in addition to your work laptop? How often do you actually use it?

I have a desktop at home I use frequently, including for gaming. For keeping stuff off of the work laptop while traveling, I have an iPad which is smaller and lighter.

Yes. Do y’all just watch naughty things on your work computer? You don’t mind IT seeing that?

Big screen, baby.

I do. I don’t really need it. But it has a bigger screen which I like when I code. And it’s touch screen and foldable. Small things

I have a desktop for gaming and a personal laptop because I like to maintain everything separate for media and side projects.

I have a desktop at home that I use 100% of the time when WFH.

When I travel, I have a personal laptop that I take since I've got a couple of side hustles that I segregate from my work laptop.

Both are way, way more powerful and usable than the POS laptop my company (I'm in industry) provided...which would have been a fine mid tier laptop in 2013.

I use my MacBook Air only to live stream NFL red zone onto my tv. Have touched it since week 16

I use my personal laptop for my music side projects, although sometimes I’ll use my work laptop as well. Didn’t use it as much pre-quarantine because I traveled a lot and would only bring my work laptop since I’d often be working remote, but now that I’m at home I use it much more frequently.

No, 2 phones, iPad, work laptop, isn't that enough screens already?

I don’t have an iPad. Debating on iPad vs MacBook Air.

I have a MacBook because I prefer the data from personal browsing (stored usernames, frequently visited websites, saved accounts etc), and documents/pictures to not have to be transferred if I switch jobs. I also love texting from my laptop instead of my phone

Yes - I have MacBook Air and MacBook Pro from my undergrad and postgrad ... I use them to torrent 🤣

One gaming rig, used daily. Two spare laptops and an htpc connected to my TV.

I do and I rarely use it. I do some freelancing and I feel bad using company equipment for personal use, not that looking at facebook or IG is not personal but I mean, working on something for someone else, it just feels wrong. But even if I didn't have the freelancing stuff, I think it is good to have a computer of your own, saw a couple of people getting fired right before covid hit and they just had to give back the computer that day, with nowhere to save their stuff if they have any personal stuff there, etc. And then if you wanna go looking for new jobs, you will need to buy a new computer, just in general I think it best to have a personal laptop.

Thanks for clarifying. I’ll see about getting this precleared before moving forward!

Some say fullstack dev are better, more opportunities, etc...and some say focusing on niche is better, since you will the expert in that area in your team, say a team lead for frontend/ backend, the SME, expertise based. i have received mixed comments on this, what do you think on this? Frontend dev / Backend dev /all in all fullstack the guy who knows it all, let's say not a jack of all trades kind, but genuinely good moderately

Opinion: Fed rate hikes are going to have effects in 6 months. So the current economic numbers, like purchasing index, job growth are relecting rates of February, which is still 0%. The recent cpi report and market movement suggest a psychology of the herd.
Last Nov we were worried about rate hikes, but actual hikes happened in March, 4 months later.
In March, the fear was how hawkish the fed is gonna be
Starting May, on the backdrop of retail weakness, the fear was recession.

I'm an experienced Generalist/HRBP for an extremely high volume/large org. I have a masters in HROD and SHRM-CP. My role is getting to be more and more transactional by the day, all my strategic projects get pushed to the side by the endless daily fires that are, inevitably, tracking down employees and data entry. I'm actively looking for a new role (preferably Sr generalist etc), but can't seem to stand out among the crowd. Any tips? Louisville, KY.
