I do not, I guess because my parents never had it for our family dogs. But my Aussie boy literally five minutes ago jumped onto the treadmill while I was running... poor thing doesn’t even know what happened to him 😂 He’s fine, thankfully, but my first thought was that I should look into pet insurance moving forward!
I have it, and it’s been a life-saver. Have saved $100s in reimbursements since I started buying it
I do have it - it’s not a savings account because you don’t get the money back. But it is very good to have in case of bad surprises. So far I’ve gotten a few hundred back from when puppy teeth would not fall out and got pulled, and from kennel cough antibiotics
What kind of issues did it cover for you?
BTW for anyone that doesn’t have it yet, I have a promo code for Petplan Insurance. You get a $25 amazon gift card for signing up. It’s CALLIE18 at www.gopetplan.com
I have it and I’ve saved $25,000 on my bulldogs. I think it’s important for all dogs, but esp for higher risk breeds.
I’ve saved money on emergency visits, wellness visits, vaccines - it’s awesome
Yes! HealthyPaws!! Covered an expensive surgery and an emergency visit!!
@ OP my first dog was diagnosed with a terminal condition (kidney failure) the day after her insurance kicked in. It was her only hope of living... they probably covered $10k in treatments over 3 years before she passed away.
My boy is a dingdong and had two emergency surgeries for swallowing foreign objects. (He thinks the world is his buffet) he also required back surgery at 3 (he’s a Frenchie). They’ve covered about $15k for him
I highly recommend our insurance, PetPlan. And buy it as soon as you can - no plans cover preexisting conditions!
I think at worst it’s a savings account where you regularly put away funds to care for your fur baby, just like dental or vision insurance. And at best it may help to cover catastrophic health needs. I haven’t looked closely at specific policies though.
@ACD1 that is amazing, what issues did your dogs have?
