Do you have some days when you just don’t like your current firm anymore? Is it a temporary thing, like a sign you need to take a few days off, or a permanent thing, like there is no way I’ll like it again?

I’ve left two firms in my career. I feel like it was more of a flipped switch for me. Once I realized I didn’t love it and wanted something different, I couldn’t turn back.

like

Same. Once I check out, I’m out. Or maybe it’s that the firm does nothing to bring me back around.

like

Everyday. Not sure if it’s temporary or not. So far it isn’t.

like

Often. Always looking for the right move. But won’t move just to move. It’s not easy and I’m not generally patient. But always looking.

Need some advice—I’m 26wks pregnant and interviewing for new job Monday. They know I’m pregnant already. If they offer me the job, I’ll probably work for 9wks before needing to go out for the baby. How should I negotiate maternity leave? I won’t be eligible for FMLA, but I’ll do the state leave after birth for 8wks. Should I ask them to grant me a few weeks of paid leave as a PTO advance? Thoughts? Ideas?

Just scheduled a meeting to go over an offer for a Senior Engineer role. When asked what I would need to make in order to leave my current job, I said at least $160k depending on benefits (I know I shouldn't have given a number).

I make a little over $145k now, plus stock options, a monthly home office stipend (fully remote), and your usual health benefits.

Assuming their benefits are comparable to my current position, have I given up all negotiation power by providing the initial number?

My company blames my generation for not being able to hire everyday. “You guys don’t want to work” coming from some overweight, racist, old coaster. I’ve barely taken any days off this year and pick up “skeleton crew” days any chance I get. I was able to work out a deal with my company before I came because of prior experience luckily, but they offer a terrible base salary and sham of a commission structure to new hires + no remote. Then sit here and can’t figure out why…

I’m looking around for other opportunities in healthcare and I was wondering what other institutions’ benefit packages are. How much do you all pay in premiums?

I currently have my partner on my EPO plan at MSK and pay about $88 total every two weeks. I just want to know what other institutions are offering (Cornell, Columbia, NYU, Mount Sinai, Flatiron Health, etc).

Has anyone rolled over more than 100 hours of PTO through contacting HR? My wedding/honeymoon is next week and will use all 100 that I roll over.
