Anyone know any good book recommendations that help improve your financial analysis skills?
Have you had a meeting with your manager that involved goal setting for the year? I feel
like all of my ideas for goals were underwhelming. Hoping to find some more inspiration
Struggling to price myself (for a raise) at my small in-house “agency” . Doing ACD-level work with massive creative control and responsibility, reporting directly to VP of communications + VP of creative, but I’m (currently) the only writer - so no direct reports.
Currently hold “copywriter” title, 5 years of experience (all in-house), located in NYC but company is fully remote.
Has anyone taken the SEPTA out to the burbs? Specifically Wayne? It seems super complicated with transfers
How long on average have you all stayed in one position? How about tenure at each company?
Should you ask clarifying questions on McK case interviews? Since usually all the information is given. And asking usually never gets you new info
Hi, guys, does anyone believe like automation testing is a good career to choose in terms of learning, job opportunities and paycheck. I've seen some of the people on the internet mocking this field. Please tell.
How much would you renegotiate your current salary to if you picked up a new HR Cert? (PHR, SPHR, SHRM, IHRM, etc)

Has anyone done Keto diet? I just feel low energy, and I’ve heard this really helps. What do you do (other than caffeine) to feel more energetic??
Has anyone here ever heard of Ideonella sakaiensis ("plastic eating bacteria") ? I think it has a lot of potential for breaking down the plastic in the ocean and we should invest more in researching it
AdWeek has an article about "Why agencies should spend more time and effort retaining their strategy people."
Potentially dumb question but I’m doing a backdoor Roth conversion using Schwab and I added my 6000 for the year to my traditional IRA and want to convert it now without buying anything (keeping as cash) so I don’t have to deal with taxes or a loss before year end on the conversion. My question is, once I convert all of the cash to my Roth IRA from the traditional IRA can I buy stocks with that money? I wasn’t sure if investments were “locked in” or some such weird thing when doing a conversion.
I am in KPMG global services team and wanted to know that since most people get 3 rating only (8-15% hike).
So what can be done extra to get a rating of 2 or 1. I mean above the regular work
Appreciate the help. Need some advice regarding career
Additional Posts in New Business. The good, the bad, the ugly.
I’ve been working on a pitch that continues to get delayed and it’s poorly managed. The RFI was due in July. Then days AFTER submission I received an email from the consultant saying we now had until August. End of September rolls around and frankly I had forgotten about this 100-page beast. They want a meet and greet….the following week. The day before the meet and greet we get a list of questions (that aren’t easy softballs). Now 2 weeks later and nothing. What a gross feeling this process is
What is the pandemic version of "let's grab coffee". as a biz dev person I am struggling with how to make that initial connection. I offer up calls and/or zooms. Let us know if you have a good tip on how to break the ice with new biz/ get new potential clients interested.
Anyone here have any advice for outsourcing new business? We’re an 18month old, busy design consultancy. I’m getting tied up in delivering the work and the pipeline suffers.
Hey! First timer. I’m moving over into biz dev and am trying to get a better handle on how you all do this thing!
Is there anything you wish you knew earlier on? Any tips for this new comer is very appreciated
Any new biz roles open in NY? I’m looking for Account Supervisor level! I’m struggling to find New Business roles in general, I feel sometimes it can be such a niche search. Any tips / words of wisdom?
How do other agencies structure salaries and commissions for new business directors? What commission rate?
Fishies, I am hiring a partner in crime to help me introduce PETERMAYER to the national stage. This isn't your typical biz dev role - it's designed to be a hybrid/cross-discipline role for someone who wants to use their full creative, strategic brain and most definitely NOT stay in their lane. Know anyone that sounds like that, send them my way! (Agency is full-time flex/hybrid, but a desire to be NOLA-based is strongly preferred; however remote may be negotiable.)
Any McCann NY new business fish in here? I see you have an opening and would love to get the inside scoop.
Hi all! Just introducing myself. I’ve become a Bowl Leader here in the new biz bowl. Looking forward to it! This bowl helped me tremendously when I switched from prod co sales to full service agency biz dev. Great group! I’m now biz dev director for a production/post/animation facility. Please comment with a bit about you and your role. Thanks!
Quick Q - how are your comp plans structured ? Not the amounts but more how do you handle recognizing revenue of multi year deals?
10 days to turn around a RFP.
Agency: request schedule Q&A session
Client: Let me check schedules. Wednesday next week works for our team... (day 6 of RFP) 🤦♂️
We've focused on networking and self promotion through a monthly newsletter for our new business process; sprinkled in with a tiny bit of RFPs. We're considering doing a mailing to targets. Thoughts?
I’ve seen a lot of agencies bring in freelancers for new business work (either production or concept creating). Would you ever consider bringing in a new business consultant or pitch expert?
Anybody care to share tactics for negotiating rates with procurement? Know they’re bluffing to drive all competing agencies down, but not sure what leverage we have to push back.
Say we’ve got a pitch in 3 weeks. What’s a typical fee for a freelance strategist to lead the strategy and work with the team to build the deck? How much would they make in that gig?
Hello! Curious if anyone has any thoughts on new year new business resolutions. Maybe it’s the fact that 2020 sucks but I’m already planning for the new year. I’m going to try and schedule time better for outreach and social media marketing. I tend to be too reactionary with my time.
