Potentially dumb question but I’m doing a backdoor Roth conversion using Schwab and I added my 6000 for the year to my traditional IRA and want to convert it now without buying anything (keeping as cash) so I don’t have to deal with taxes or a loss before year end on the conversion. My question is, once I convert all of the cash to my Roth IRA from the traditional IRA can I buy stocks with that money? I wasn’t sure if investments were “locked in” or some such weird thing when doing a conversion.

I’ve been working on a pitch that continues to get delayed and it’s poorly managed. The RFI was due in July. Then days AFTER submission I received an email from the consultant saying we now had until August. End of September rolls around and frankly I had forgotten about this 100-page beast. They want a meet and greet….the following week. The day before the meet and greet we get a list of questions (that aren’t easy softballs). Now 2 weeks later and nothing. What a gross feeling this process is
