So, basically homeschooling in a group is what I'm getting.

Probably it's like vanilla homeschooling. There are people who fiercely advocate for it, and they can produce cherry-picked data to support their assertion that it's a good thing, but the whole affair is so unregulated that the only thing an honest person can say is "We don't know for sure if it works, but it probably doesn't."

A few of these popped up in our area as the return from COVID was on. They were gone within a year and I had two students who had been in one. YIKES. Zero thinking skills.

More of the segregation of American schools

One popped up last school year. It was marketed as a Charter School. I didn’t believe it was a High School until I saw the students leave it one day. It took over a small church when it remodeled.

I never looked into it otherwise. Smaller the school, more classes to prep for.

That's the downside with these things (and with homeschooling). In even a small school, they might struggle to staff electives positions, but you're likely to have someone teaching English who actually KNOWS about English. Someone teaching math who's actually studied math. A microschool, even in the unlikely event that it's got certified teachers, isn't going to have teachers with the many multiple certs they'd need to make that true. And with homeschooling, it's a parent trying to do all that.

Economies of scale. Far better to have a bigger school, one you can actually staff, and then try to make sure that every kid has some place they feel like they belong WITHIN that school.

It equates to parents taking charge of their children's education; as they should. On average, government schools are failing. This is a byproduct of that failure.

Of course they're failing. That's the narrative.

Oddly, they seem to be failing less, with equivalent students, than any other model.

(Side note: use of the term "government schools," at least by an American, is a certain indication that the speaker is not a reliable source of information.)

I’m a 28 year old male, living with gf. I think I’ve got covid - very feverish, cough, hot and cold sweats, pains etc. When I get sick I turn into a massive baby - definition of “man flu”. Is this a massive problem for women (ie a big turn off)? Luckily I only get sick once every 2-3 years, but this feels awful and I’m being a massive sook and I can’t help it lol…
