Hey folks of TCS
Any idea how can I get a bonafide letter from the company? My bank wanted to verify my company but I am working from home at present. So they are asking for it as proof.
Hi folks, trying to use the COUNTIFS() formula, where one of the criteria is to only count unique values within a range. Any suggestions on how to do that?
Pregnancy lady here. Wanna go somewhere this weekend to avoid the heat. Obviously I can’t hike, walking is ok. Prefer somewhere pretty within 2 hrs of drive from Denver. Thank you! Have a nice weekend!

What do you guys feel about the Supreme Court’s decision in overturning Roe vs. Wade? It is still a hot topic in our office.
Folks who’ve left ClearView, how is life on the other side, and how long did you stay before you jumped ship? It’s a week where I’m burning, and the fact that I feel so isolated during it makes me want to quit consulting altogether. Would also like to talk to some of you if possible. Never thought I’d say this but I honestly feel unhappy in my job, and I wonder if it is just WFH related - and whether it might get better once the office opens up.
Hiring a couple mid-level to senior brand design and art directing roles at a start-up in NYC. ~100 people. Both salary ranges are 80-90k. Must have experience in related roles -- no recent grads. I'm the CD (not a recruiter!) and you'd work under me. Happy to answer questions.

Does anyone know if you could file a non-automatic and an automatic change on the same 3115? I have a situation where a non-automatic change needs to be filed to move items from building to 5 and 15 year property as a result of a cost seg. Also want to do the automatic change from 40 to 30 years ADS for Residential Real Property under 163j. Missed the deadline to file the non-automatic in 2020 and doesn’t make sense to do the 40 to 30 change first.
Foreign-trained CPA looking to eventually get a tax position in the midwest or south US (MO, AR, TX). I have acceptance letters to study for the online MTax at Denver and online MSL at Boston and NYU with the latter being most expensive.
This is all out of my own pocket. Does the NYU name on the resume justify the higher price tag of that degree? Anything else I should consider when deciding between these options? Thanks
I feel like I can only tolerate accounting 40-45 hours a week. These 60+ hour long weeks are getting old real quick.... thought I was a seasoned vet with 6 busy seasons under my belt but nah
I am a 3rd year senior associate in alternative investment tax and up for manager promotion this year. I really dislike the long hours of this job and seeking to make a move. Although I’m not sure i necessarily want to stay in tax. I have a young toddler at home and want to find a job i like, makes decent money, and has decent hours so i can spend more time with family.
Has anyone been in a similar position and made a move? Can you please share your experience? Thanks!
does the money in this profession (i.e. tax) come with time? it’s been a hard few years and sometimes i feel foolish for choosing this. at least knowing long term i can one day make low to mid 100s may make it worthwhile
edit: i’m non-tech (provision/compliance focused in MCOL)

I constantly feel guilty for logging off early even on one day a week - well not early but I worked from 8:30am-6:30pm and feel like I’m the only one not online currently. I also obsessively keep checking teams on my phone to see who else at my level is working longer hours. I know this doesn’t sound normal so please help with any suggestions!!!

As someone with a background in the military, is it worth it to try to go back to the government as a tax analyst or senior tax analyst for the Dept of the Treasury? I'm wondering if I'll have an edge in getting hired as I've been at the GS-13 level before I left the military and I'm hoping I can use that time in service to add to a pension time requirement in the government.
I have 2 engagements that have their weekly client calls at the same time every week. I mentioned to the smaller engagement, if they can move the call to another day or time. They were like no. I got a reply like we will let you know if anything affects your funds. Today going over some random things, I asked about stuff and they were like oh yea it was mentioned on the weekly call. I’m a manager on this account. I feel when busy season hits I will end up being lost and look bad.
Any International Tax folks here help. Can someone confirm when is the Form 1042 actually due? Is it 4/15 or 9/25? I was under impression it’s statutorily not due until 30 days after your actual K1s are out, can someone please clarify, Thanks!

I’m a new senior associate and I don’t have all the answers. Hell I’m still learning…but I figured if I can lower associates 20 questions to 2 questions to the partner then that’s a win, right?

No, you don’t need a JD/LLM for private client work. Most of the partners you work with probably started at law firms, which is where the drafting experience comes in handy. You’d be amazed at how often the lawyers can make a stupid drafting mistake. When you review enough documents, you’ll understand what should be in them. Same goes for M and A agreements.
I work in this particular niche group and I have noticed almost all of the partners in my group are JDs, while almost all of the partners in the Corp/partnerships groups are CPAs, and speciality groups are a mix. I like what I do but looking at the mix of people in my group makes me feel like I am missing something to become a true expert in that area since there are so many non-tax considerations made in estate and trust planning. Is it possible to gain true expertise in this area without being trained like a lawyer? Not really interested in going to law school, and definitely wouldn’t want to go to land back in PA.
