Do you have to have a JD/LLM to be an expert in private clients (estate, trust, wealth transfer planning)?

No, you don’t need a JD/LLM for private client work. Most of the partners you work with probably started at law firms, which is where the drafting experience comes in handy. You’d be amazed at how often the lawyers can make a stupid drafting mistake. When you review enough documents, you’ll understand what should be in them. Same goes for M and A agreements.

I work in this particular niche group and I have noticed almost all of the partners in my group are JDs, while almost all of the partners in the Corp/partnerships groups are CPAs, and speciality groups are a mix. I like what I do but looking at the mix of people in my group makes me feel like I am missing something to become a true expert in that area since there are so many non-tax considerations made in estate and trust planning. Is it possible to gain true expertise in this area without being trained like a lawyer? Not really interested in going to law school, and definitely wouldn’t want to go to land back in PA.

In my 1 year in corporate this is what I have understood.
1. Choose your friends wisely.
2. Focus on skill development.
3. Gossip and office politics are more or less common thing in corporate. We may not avoid it but limit ourselves as much as possible.
4. expect unexpected things.
5. No one really cares for you, so you have to set
your own priority and take decision accordingly.
6. You will understand whether your colleague is actually your friend or not only when you will be on np 😀.

I am running a macro that uses "Application.FileDialog(MsoFileDialogType.msoFileDialogFilePicker)" to select a single workbook file and then open the selected workbook.

Cell A1 on Sheet1 of the workbook that is running the macro contains sheet names that can be selected from a drop-down list. I want to be able to use the sheet name that is in cell A1 to select that sheet in the newly opened workbook.

It's probably something simple, but I can't seem to get it to work. Any ideas?

Generally curious how many companies offer phone reimbursement? My last gig did not but the current one does. Legally it seems, all employers are required to do so if we use our phone in literally any capacity (video call, slack, teams, emails etc). How prevalent is the issue of not reimbursing phone dues?
