Do you have to have SPED training to have SPED students in your classes?

Depends on your state, I am assuming.
For my state (Louisiana), regular education teachers aren’t provided special training but may still have special education students in his/her class.

Nope. Just read the IEP and then differentiate to meet the needs.

Not as a regular education teacher. Depending on the student, they may or may not come with an aide. Otherwise you will be given a list of accommodations and then work with the student.

Not in Wisconsin. It is helpful, though, to understand different learning disabilities and know how to make modifications or accommodations so your learners can be successful

Not in Iowa. As a general education teacher, special education students also have a sped teacher who will do pullouts or work in the gen ed setting with the student.

No you don’t. Depending on scheduling you may get a para or a special education teacher pushing in to assist. It does help to read over the IEP and ask for strategies from the sped teacher.

No, but I wish we did. I would like more training in that area because I tend to understand gifted students better than SPED. Our SPED teacher is stretched too thin, so I don’t feel like they get all the help they need.

Hi guys. I have a query with regards to the Income tax proof submission.

So I have claimed exemptions on the following-
1) HRA
2) 5 year term deposit(fixed deposit) under Section 80C
3) Interest on education loan under Section 80E

I have also provided previous employment details.

Guys I didn't know that we have to submit declaration forms as well. Can you please tell me which are the declaration forms that I would need to fill and submit??

Thanks in advance :)

I’ll be retiring from a public school system in the next 3-5 years. My husband, a Navy vet, and I are tossing around the idea of then relocating to a country that has a military base nearby. We’d both be interested in at least part-time gigs: me as a teacher preferably on base and he’s open to jobs on or off base. Does anyone know any educators currently doing that or planning to??

What's a rule you are expected to enforce that you strongly disagree with or are indifferent to. Do you enforce it or take the risk? I move around as a tutor and am currently working with a school that has a ridiculously strict formal address policy. One of my second graders refers to me as "Miss Tutoring (my first name)" - it's about the cutest thing ever and doesn't bother me one bit. We are moderated sometimes and I'm more worried about her getting in trouble than me for not abiding.

My school is a small rural school. We don’t offer many in-house electives. What’s happening is students are having to take whatever is there to fill their schedules. What are some electives you have at your school that are new, innovative and interesting for todays high school students?
