Return to work: I’ve been on maternity leave since the beginning of August with my first. It has been so amazing, and while there are tough moments, I have loved every day with this baby. In less than a month, I’m going to be headed back to work. My heart is absolutely broken. It’s not an option for me to not work (loans, mortgage, etc.). I’m having a really hard time with the idea of only seeing her a few hours a day and/or going back to travel. Does it get better? How do I get through this? 😭
Does anyone here use their FSA for dependent care ? How do you maximize benefits and minimize waste ?
Former KPMG ers, how long did it take to get the final expense reimbursement? I submitted the last one for the laptop shipping cost.
Looking for exit ops in the Dallas area. I have a background in AWS, healthcare, and working with technical teams. I'm professionally certified for AWS architecture, but Uncle D has had me on more of a PM track. Would greatly appreciate any support, guidance, or recommendations. TIA
Have anyone done contracting negotiations before? I've interviewed for co A & B and co A extended an offer today. The offer does not meet my current salary. Co B's interview structure is 3 rounds and I've finished my 2nd round today. The recruiter mentioned that since I am a contractor my current salary is incomparable as they will provide benefits, etc. Is this true? I have 2 yrs of contracting HR exp from fortunate 500 co’s & OMW to get my SHRM-CP. Appreciate your advice in advance.
I just got back from maternity leave last week and have a meeting with hr/partner tomorrow. Am I being let go?
How’s this offer sound: lead product manager for series C healthcare startup, $220k base, 15% bonus, RSUs, $50k sign on bonus. Seems decent for a startup?

Question re benefits: we used to get a daily stipend to get lunch in the office from GrubHub, but now we're all perm wfh. Still get the emails for GrubHub though, should I ask about using at home?
What would you take over an increase in pay? How about better/cheaper health insurance, student loan forgiveness, or a downpayment for a house?
Does contributing to 401k beyond the match make sense? You can’t touch it until you’re 59.5. If i were to invest on my own in various etfs Ill pay the 22% tax upfront and then cap gains would be 15% when i sell. I’d have freedom to use that money to invest in real estate. when i pull my yearly salary out in retirement I’d Atleast be in the 22% bracket if not higher. Since the last 3 dem presidents have increased spending like crazy i expect massive tax hikes in the future. Am i wrong?
What would be potential benefits to ask for when negotiating a contract for an ACD position?
If I come back to Accenture do I immediately get 401K contributions vested because I have over 2 years tenure already?
Are there any US immigrants in this bowl? How did you learn and navigate the system here? 401k, Roth IRA, HSA all these things are new to me. In Australia our employer pays our retirement fund. Would love to have some resources to understand the basics of where I should start and how all these funds work.
I know these are tuff times, but I wonder if there’s a good consumer-focused / integrated agency hiring senior creatives (ACD/Sr AD). I’ve been looking for new opportunities on LinkedIn, but all I‘be seen is in the healthcare space... I know that is better than being unemployed, but it’s not my cup tea. Any leads?
I previously maxed out my traditional 401k I have about 40k Once I learned more about retirement, I then stopped contributing to traditional 401k and started maxing out my Roth 401k I have about 60k I have about 25k of matched contributions This is where I get fuzzy -Should I/can I call the broker to roll over my traditional 401k to my Roth 401k (or do I need to open a separate Roth IRA and have them roll it into this?) -Should I/Can I move my matched contributions to my Roth 401K...cont

I’m expecting a job offer tomorrow and they let me know today that they have no 401k matching program (?????). Is it greedy for me to bump up my salary expectation $2-3k to make up for it?
How do I start a brokerage account at Fidelity (just using that since my kids 529 and my 401k are there)? Do I need to call them? I just don’t want stuff sitting in my checking account and my student loans are now paid off so I will end up netting more every month…any advice on what to do would be greatly appreciated. Side note - I won’t be day trading or anything…I just want to give it to a brokerage firm and let them do their thing.
What’s the parental leave policy at your firm? Maternity vs paternity? Is two weeks paternity leave pretty standard?

Most of the client locations and offices do not have footrest and my legs kind of swells by sitting on chair for entire day. Any one with similar issue and how did you solve it?

Good morning and welcome to my home office! I've got my coffee and am looking forward to responding to your questions with Zoe and Ron. I was raised by a single parent in upstate NY (far from NYC!). I've had to ask a lot of questions in my career and look forward to hearing yours!
I’m about ready to quit advertising. I had an internship after college, and I thought I did well, but they didn’t seem to give any thought to keeping me full-time, and I’ve felt locked out ever since. Now I’ve just wasted two years of my life, and I don’t feel any closer to getting back in as I did when I walked out of the $70,000 party the agency threw on my last day. It just sucks because I couldn’t wait to come in to work every day, and I really believe in my ability to write and concept.
Does anyone have the 2020 SHRM books for sale or to borrow? My job won’t contribute towards my certification. I’ve already paid for my test. I have the books from 2015 but I’d like to study from the 2020. I tried finding them online to purchase but sellers of affordable books aren’t responding.
