I would love to hear from other project managers who have transitioned to high value roles and any recommendations you might have.

I was recently let go from my job of 7 years with an organic egg company. We were purchased by private equity and I was the first to be let go by the new SVP of Sales. I worked my way up from Sales Admin to Trade Marketing Manager in a 5 year span. It’s been over a month and I don’t have any solid leads for a new role. I’m looking for a role in Category Management, Trade Management or just Sales in general. I am very competent and have valid credentials. Any help is appreciated.

I walked in on my roommate jerking off to a some aisha ahmed video. I just continued with whatever I wanted to ask him ( rent and usps stuff). Awkward MAX. Haven’t made eye contact or conversed with him in 48 hours. 🙈 Didn’t know anything better than posting it here. 😬
Hi I had someone recently tell me I should have my education and certifications above my experience on my resume. I found this weird as I thought since I had 5 years of work experience that would go first. They said since I graduated college in 2020 and was actively in a certificate program those should go above my current experience. Thoughts?

How many of your firms do free consultations for Family Law Matters? We get a substantial number of calls asking for free consultations, even though we have a fairly good reputation.
Wondering if this is just a regional issue.

Hey! I’m looking for a 30 hour family law mediation training in Pennsylvania. I am interested in practicing Collaboratively and a mediation training is a requirement. Any suggestions??
Hello. I’m not a lawyer. After 15 years of copywriting, content writing, UX writing, etc., I am interested in changing careers and applying to law school. It’s been on my mind for years. If anyone is willing to talk to me about their experience, esp if you went to law school after a career and are over 30, I’d really appreciate it. TIA!
How do some partners have hundreds of unread emails in their inboxes? Granted we are a small firm with a copy everyone on everything policy— but when our principal misses something, the excuse is always: I have 700+ unread emails. Umm… if everyone is copied on everything, I manage to have zero unread before I shut down for the day, boss. 🤷♂️
I’m hoping to speak with someone you who has experience with migrant clients divorcing abusive partners. I’ve looked into VAWA eligibility and I’m concerned about the requirement that she be willing to participate in a criminal investigation. Anyone have experience with this overlap?

18 months into a pandemic, I’m really feeling like there needs to be 24 hours—one day— where if you have a license to practice law, you’re prohibited from helping anyone. Hashtag Nero is burnt out and wanna fiddle.
If PC separated less than 6 months after marriage, would you aim for an annulment (not sure what the grounds for separation are) or just file for dissolution. What do you believe is the most simple solution? (there are no assets and no kids)
PC is under the impression that vets in similar situations have done this quick/easy for $500...
Well-off client not over their spouse had previous counsel that didn’t know their head from their ass. So client is micromanaging us since we substituted in. Just got an email from client: “I need you to work this case like it’s your only case.” Oh, ok. If you pay your bill like it’s your only bill.
How easy would it be to transfer to family law? Have minimal exposure as assistant before law school but have only done civil defense lit since grad.
Recommendations on billing software? We are moving away from Timeslips. Practice management software like Smokeball seems like overkill, and I need something that integrates with Quickbooks and Timeslips.
Larger, sophisticated firm with amazing family law practice group making big overtures at me. Having coffee meeting with managing partner-elect, what are some topics I should focus on?
New firm has wide range of practice areas and would be 60-70 attorneys. Really like attorneys in their family group and have arguably “better” clients. Have practiced 10 years at same small office (crim/PI/fam) and feel capped out. Won’t be a partner/owner at current firm until boss retires (3-5yrs).
What’s a good starting salary for a newer attorney? I’ve never worked anywhere but in the public sector (even before becoming an attorney). I currently clerk for a judge and now am up to $44k as of July 1. I’m in KY. I’ve recently had a couple attorneys reach out to me about joining their practice. I’m not ready to leave my current role but I have no idea what to consider as a reasonable salary. I’ve been licensed a year and this is my first law-related job so I’m a complete newbie.
Family law associates - how long have you been practicing and what is your comp structure?
Thinking about bringing in other solo attorneys to my practice. I'm thinking about charging them 25% of whatever they make. In exchange, they would get all the clients that come in (which is a ton), legal assistant, receptionist, free rent, and free office expenses. They basically would be running a solo practice with zero overhead.
Is 25% fair? Thoughts?
Is it important to offer support staff that speak a foreign language or is it sufficient if the attorney can communicate with the client? We had one bilingual paralegal and another who is not. The bilingual one left us some time ago.
Thus, we are left with one who can’t communicate with about 25% of our clients. And there just isn’t enough revenue to support two paralegals despite my partner pushing us to hire.
How do people deal with a really crushing, can completely, unfair loss? Filed a motion for temporary child and spousal support and the judge ordered my client to pay more than his salary. Obviously will be filing a motion to reargue and possibly an appeal. But those take forever and in the mean time I have a very upset client. It’s such a misapplication of the law and a horrendous judge but it’s hard to explain that to the client who is obviously very upset and can’t understand how this happened

I do. I think the client should be informed. Doesn't mean I cant do it, but think candor with a client is important. Never had it be a problem. People appreciate honesty and humility.
I agree. I don’t make a big deal, but let them know. I also usually tell them a couple of things I plan to do to be sure I get it right ( research, check with colleague, etc.). I haven’t had it be a problem. I also find clients appreciate the candor. It has even added trust a few times, since they knew I wouldn’t just tell them something to sound good. Clients want attorneys to be competent, but are wary of the ones that always have a quick answer and try to seem to know it all.
It depends on the client. Not many people choose to spend their money with someone who they don’t feel is “experienced.”
Nope. I just introduce them/tell them about the other attorneys/partners there and that we are a team. You get my lower billable rate with the benefit of 20+ years of experience in firm oversight
