Do you keep your camera on or off for Zoom meetings, when you have the choice?

On if I look decent, off if I have “bandwidth issues”

likefunnyhelpful

On pretty much all the time, have gotten to the point where I don’t care how I look anymore lol

like

On all the time but I’m in sales. It blows

Almost always on unless eating during a meeting.

I personally find it disrespectful for people to always have theirs off. I don’t care what you look like, but have the decency to show you’re paying attention and not doing something else

like

I never have my camera on, normally because I'm doing something else and not really interested in whatever bs meeting is going on

Always off. I just don't care anymore

like

Probably 70% on.

100% on for 1:1 and smaller meetings.

For medium sized meetings I usually leave it on although it’s interesting that in product most people turn cameras on but on the engineering side most seem to not turn on so I follow that too.

Personally I find that being on camera all the time can be draining (maybe I’m just self conscious) so I think it’s healthy to have off some of the times to combat zoom fatigue.

Particularly in larger groups where you are just listening anyways. (And if I end up having a lot to say in those meetings, I’ll turn my camera on)

Anyone else get that feeling that camera on increases zoom fatigue?

like

Doesn’t people see you in real meetings? So what’s self conscious about seeing you on video?

Always off, most of my coworkers leave it off too

like

Off. Dont want to scare my coworkers 🤪

likefunny

My boss requires that I have it on for all meetings. I think it helps to keep a more professional appearance and to have “face time” with higher ups but I turn it off for large company meetings where I won’t be noticed for having my camera off. .

like

I turn the camera off no matter what. I turn it off for me and I minimize / turn of off for everyone else. If they choose to enable their camera, I make sure to disable it.

likefunny

I definitely do this for recorded meetings. The cams and profile pics becoming distracting (at least on Zoom)

like

Always on unless there's a reason I can't. It's the only human connection I get to have with my co-workers, but more importantly I have an expressive face and I like to talk with my hands. I never feel like my meaning comes across if you can't see me.

like

On during sales calls because I want my prospects to have it on as well so I can gauge reactions throughout demos or calls with them.

Also on for smaller internal meetings like 1 on 1’s or stand up’s.

Almost always off for all company when not presenting or speaking.

likesmart

I go on if it’s a small group and I’m central to the meeting. If it’s a big meeting with lots of people and I’m mostly listening in, I go off. Even before the pandemic I was wfh most days, and during pre-pandemic times no one would have video on. Now it seems like every meeting has video, even previous standing calls that used to just be a phone call.

like

Off If I can.

like

No one else on my team turns on their video. Hence, I end of switching mine off at some point.
I personally like seeing people and keep my video on as much as I can.

like

On. It allows me to continue to create a connection and focus on the conversation.

like

I turn of my camera 90% of the time (unless it is presentation and there are more than 20 ppl in the meeting). I like being able to see people’s expressions and presence during meetings so it seems fair for me to do the same.

That being said, it does get exhausting on meeting heavy days.

like

I like to be on screen at least to start. I hope it helps others to see I am a human and we can make more of a connection. It also makes me focus more on the call at hand rather than get (visibly) distracted.

uplifting

Off

like

On most of the time. I noticed that I like when other people have theirs on - feeling more connected, so I try to keep mine on too.

We've been WFH for too long. There are people who joined the team in the meantime. So, imagine if they always turn off the camera (if that's the culture), then we'll feel very much disconnected.

My company was not very accommodating to work from home prior to Covid. When we all started working from home, my boss made the astute suggestion that we all make a commitment to having our camera on as much as possible. He felt that that would improve the experience for everybody and potential he change the perspective on work from home after Covid. I thought that was a great idea and usually have my camera on as a result. I do turn it off sometimes in large meetings when I’m just listening.

HCG vs. Lupron trigger - based on your experience, have you found a difference in egg quality? I did a cycle with dual and one with just Lupron. Recovery was much easier on just Lupron but egg quality was poor (vacuoles, grainy, thicker membranes etc). For the next cycle, doc is suggesting going back to dual trigger. I have been on the antagonist protocol. Wondering if we should try a different protocol vs. switching the trigger. Thoughts?

No idea about team/culture/stability differences yet.

The non-work factors I'm debating are:

2. Public School quality. Unsure private will be affordable.
