What is a career in finance like? How do I make a career in finance?

Is it easy or difficult to go from being a consultant to a marketing role at a pharma company? All the job descriptions ask for at least 5 years of experience with brand marketing. I am not sure if consultants make the cut.

I’m an insurance analyst 2 (servicing) for nationwide. I have a P&C insurance license, just slightly over two years experience, a 1.5 year 100% quality evaluation record. I have gotten to the current position I am in very quickly, comparatively to other folks b/c of my performance. I work odd hours to receive additional pay, which is good. I believe I make about $57k.
