Do you know how bonuses are being communicated when on maternity leave or short term disability at the moment when bonuses are being announced?

I think it's different everywhere. My manager and I have a short (30 min) call scheduled during comp week to do a brief review and communicate comp - we set that up via my personal email (I'm on mat leave). But I had the option to just skip it completely, which would have meant I would see my comp on the next paycheck.

I had scheduled an early review/bonus call at my boutique consultancy in early January. Baby was due at the end of January. Reviews usually happen in March. Baby came early, the week before my meeting was scheduled - whoops! So, we just did it when I got back - in May; that first week. I got the bonus and a raise while I was out on maternity leave. By the way- I 10/10 do not recommend having the review when you return from leave. Unless it’s glowing, you are not in a state to listen to any criticism from months ago, even constructive, when you just “returned” from raising a baby

Just bring it up to your management ahead of time. I suggest you lead the charge and take care of it before you leave if possible. It’s easy for your contributions to be forgotten while you’re away. Good luck.

Ever since I joined this app I feel so trash about the (lack of) money I have saved lol. I’m 24 and only have 3k in the bank with a salary of 70k. I live at home but 50% of my salary goes to my mom to cover household expenses. The remainder goes to my student loans and my other bills. I’m only able to really save $500 a month ($150 into my 401k and the rest in IRA). Does anyone have any suggestions on what I can do better?? Idk how ppl have like 50k saved at my age fml

Wondering if I’m putting too much in my 401k, currently @ 85 base per year and hoping to place 40% of my salary for the next 2 months to finish maxing it out. I currently have ~1.5 years expenses and have maxed my IRA and HSA. Should I be hoarding more cash?

Wanted to crowd source some info and get a feeling. From the group here. Do people think that Medicare for All is a viable alternative to our current healthcare platform? Any major things to think about that may cause adverse consequences? I am a major supporter of it so want to see the other angle as well.

If you are offered a job that's far more than you currently make, and far more than you'd ever think to ask for, would you negotiate? For context, a recruiter reached out about a role and it's a 60% raise to what I make now, and far and away more than what I'd even think to ask. I feel like I am doing well in the process. The company offers generous benefits, including equity, so if they offer me the role I'm afraid to put them off if I ask for more money without a solid reason. Thoughts?

Serious question: Invited to a Christmas party tonight and the hosts are not vaxxed, nor is their family. They are also not very careful. Do you go or skip? Note: we are going but after reading through some of these posts wondering if we are crazy? My husband just got booster so he should be fine and I am vaxxed (booster not for 2 more months) and we are making our post-college daughter go (not vaxxed, but she does get out and about and so far has been fine, knock on wood).
