Do you negotiate a salary raise every year or do you just go with the standard increase that they offer you? This is my first year not at a lockstep law firm, so I’m not sure what people normally do.

You don’t get raises every year In-house. Eventually you’ll likely hit a position ceiling for marker pay, and if you don’t like that ceiling, you leave for a new title or get a promotion. In my experience, I usually just take the inflation raises and enjoy working 30 hour weeks. There are likely boat rockers out there, but there lives are surely less chill than mine.

There’s no guarantees. It’s capitalism. If top line growth sucks, then bottom line manipulation starts, and if you haven’t proven value, that might mean you’re terminated.

Raises at my company are not negotiable. They are set across the organization. There may be some minor adjustments (including the point of some folks already being at the ceiling), but any merit or market adjustments are done separately.

Check the overtime laws for your state!!

I just recently worked 58.6 hours in a week, weekly pay, nice OT profit right? Depends on where you live.

In Iowa, there is no Overtime pay mandate, the overtime pay is at the discretion of the business. I received 58.6 hours of base pay for the week.

If the company makes less than $1 million per year or does not engage in intercontinental sales, the company is not required to pay the overtime rate of time and a half, just your base rate.

The attrition rate in Infosys for last 3 quarters roughly accounts to 75% (20+27+28). With nearly 3/4 of the company moving out in last 9 months, the Infy management have never seemed to have learnt a lesson from it.

Still no compensation revision given for employees who have been associated for long term (Say 4+ years)

Folks - Is there any compensation revision planned in the near future... considering the after effects of q1 fy23 attrition rise ?

I received a verbal offer for an in-house position. Although there is still a final call with the CEO required, I’ve been asked to accept the verbal by tomorrow, with the written offer to follow after the call with the CEO. I’m expecting another offer from a second company this week, and would like to be able to weigh each offer.

Is this verbal offer just to solidify the numbers? If I accept the verbal, would it be bad to not accept the written if the other offer I receive is better?

I work for a mid-sized company (almost 500 employees) with a legal team of 3 and am curious about how our approach to contracts compares with others. Every single contract the company signs goes through legal review, and we always have revisions (we have specific terms we typically request). I’m talking every contract, down to the coffee vendor (not to minimize the significance of coffee). Is this normal? Sometimes it feels like a huge waste of time for low-risk concerns.
