Do you prefer HIIT workouts or weight lifting? I was lifting weights regularly before quarantine but now have been focused on 45min non stop HIIT workouts using body weight and kettlebells. I’m just not seeing the progress/body transformation that I would get when lifting weights but at least my cardio is better.

HIIT will not get you “tone” or change your body composition as much as weightlifting, because it is focused on cardio.

The weights aren’t heavy enough to convince your body to keep muscle vs make your muscles smaller/more efficient and keep the fat.

I am currently focused on pure cardio.
I've also lost a ton of weight and I'm just considering this a really drawn out cutting season.

I have ordered a full weight set (bench, squat, plates, bars etc) it won't be here until August.

I am also really considering those weight backpacks people keep talking about but something doesn't make sense about that method.

45 min is too much for HIIT/ if you are really going all out.

Both HIIT and strength training have a place in fitness but are not interchangeable.

OP- what you are describing is not HIIT.

If the intensity of high enough - you are flatlining (riding, sprinting, etc with everything you have 11/10 and then the rest interval drops to a 6 or 7 out of 10 on intensity.

15-20 min.

FORM50 fitness? Anyone familiar with them? Looks kind of like power Pilates. They only have a New York (Astoria) studio and a Miami studio. I’m traveling again for work and while it took me a while to get back into it, I’m almost as efficient as I was pre-Covid. My issue is that when I get home, I am exhausted. It feels like it takes me a day to recover from any travel that is more than an overnight trip. I know travel disrupts sleep and I eat heavier food when I’m on the road, so I’m watching that, but any other tips to not come home feeling like a shell? Or how to bounce back faster?

I’ve done dry January and a lot of weight melted off. I was already shooting to keep it going through to March. For super lean people (borderline Instagram models), do you still drink alcohol after your 20s? I remember a male stripper in Vegas told me he only drank a shot of vodka once a year 😂 and that was the extent of his drinking, but he looked great.

Any tips for staying injury free in middle age? My body seems to be falling apart. Before Covid, I injured my shoulder in a bad fall while skiing that would have kept me off the slopes for a year if the pandemic hadn’t. Last week, I pulled my lower back, also skiing. This is all after a 6 month recovery from Achilles tendinitis that the PT said was a result of running and hiking. I’m pretty active and in decent shape, but clearly I’m doing something very wrong.
