Millennials will end ageism, because we’ll be working until we’re 80.

Gen X here. Pretty sure we will be working til that age too. Maybe I can be a professor when I’m older?

Doing pretty good work in-house.

I was at a work function at Wrigley Field. Was with a guy with the title “Chief Millennial Officer” at an agency. (Ridiculous.) He saw some middle school kids taking a tour of Wrigley. “Who the $&@# are those guys?” he asked. “Those guys will have your job one day,” I replied. Point is... Don’t get cocky. You’re expendable. No matter what your age.

Yeah it’ll be a thing still. Every year more and more people come into the industry. And the longer they work or try to work the more they expect jobs. And they’ll likely get jobs because they’re cheaper to hire than a vet. It’a also such a subjective business in terms of what’s good. Skilled creative people who’ve done stellar work for years get devalued.

In 10-15 years it will definitely be a problem for me

sorry but the older people in the agency are so out of touch its insane

Hi, would love some advice! I’ve been at my company ~1 yr and feeling like I need a change due to various reasons. Not sure if I can apply elsewhere w/ a little less than 1 yr under my belt, and I don’t have many connections in my area. Right now, I play a BSA role on my team, and I’m hoping to pursue product/UX design. I’m also doing a UX bootcamp in the spring & working on a udemy course outside of work for UX/UI. What’s a good stepping stone role (remote preferred)?

I'll be joining Microsoft's FRP next year, and I'm trying to establish a plan for my LT goals. From reading various threads, the consistency seems to be consulting->FAANG. I've heard that mobility into a Corp Strat role is feasible - just a matter of networking. Since I'll be starting at Microsoft and Strategy is something of interest, can anyone share their experiences if they have done this or know someone who has? Wondering what role an M7 MBA may lead to as well (considering). TIA!

Need counsel: Left advertising to go client side last year. Working at a huge company isn’t for me long-term but the money is great, I have more balance and actually raised my kids this year. I have the opportunity to be a c-suite leader at a very small agency on the rise. Super confused. Money will be less, long-term opportunity will be more. Also thinking about having another kid soonish.
