Yes. Texts or emails or whatever to keep in touch

Not unless I am directly in contact with them over the year.

Would you leave before busy season if you get an offer in December before the holiday break or would you negotiate your start date to try to stay through the busy season (6 weeks) due to staff shortages? I feel like I’m fucking my team over but also am so over audit and all the hours/work they’re giving me due to staff shortages.

Starting a new job soon, with a nice pay bump. Also have been looking for a vacation home for a year now, and we think we found a good one that isn't just flying off the market. Part of me thinks we should go for it, and the other part thinks it's much wiser to wait to make sure I'm actually good at the new job. What do you all think?

Left a job in government (prosecution), currently at a mid-size firm. I’m really starting to not only hate law firm life, but the practice of law generally. Is this part of the transition? I left my last job because I was on-call 24/7. Now I’m 24/7 again but due to billable requirements. I have no hobbies, no free time, and only spend about an hour/day with my kids. Not sure I want this life. At least I had insane PTO for govt work.

I need to get my wisdom tooth removed but I am swamped in client work. Consultants who’ve gotten wisdom tooth removed as an adult, how much time did you take off work? Will it impact my ability to speak or be client facing? My hope is to have the procedure done on a Thursday, September 2. I’d take Friday off, Monday is Labor Day holiday, and return to client meetings on Tuesday. Is this feasible?

I, a childless woman who does not plan to have kids, am jealous of the parental leave parents get to take from work from choosing to have a child (a big life event). I 100% understand that they are working in a different way by taking care of the baby and being deliriously worn out in the process, but it makes me sort of jealous that unless I have a kid there is no life event that I can take ~3 months away from work to focus on and enjoy, plus have my hours prorated and a job to come back to.

Anyone know of non-consulting companies with good PTO benefits right off the bat? I currently get 5 weeks, but most companies seem to be at 2-3 weeks, with opp to earn more with 5-10 years of service.

Do most other firms roll over unused PTO or pay it out at year's end?

I know we aren’t doing vacationing anymore, but did you guys ever dread doing a family trip? Like the vacation itself becomes stressful?

Taking a half day of PTO this Friday. Cheers to everyone who can get out of the office early today after a crazy week of grinding. To those who can’t, may the PPT winds always be at your back.

So am I crazy to think my nanny will be able to take care of a four year old, two year old, and baby by herself all day? The older ones don’t do any preschool right now due to combo of pandemic and having a newborn sibling. Nanny is great and experienced and doesn’t seem concerned but god knows I find the days pretty tough when my nanny is out and my husband is working and I’ve got all three alone all day. They’ll all be fine, right?

Does anyone have advice for starting over your wardrobe after losing a decent amount of weight? Not really on purpose, but after gaining weight during covid, I “overcorrected” and now I’m three pant sizes smaller than my usual size and most of my bras don’t fit. I know it’s a “good” problem to have but it’s kind of frustrating I have so many cute/expensive clothes that I still would love to wear but they don’t fit anymore
