If I’m crying over a client’s matter you best believe I’m billing for that time. “Processed client matter and engaged in internal preparation for next steps;”
I mean, you're thinking about the case while you cry, so it's perfectly cromulent and ethical to bill it full rate.
Fortunately my crying sessions don't usually take more than 6 min so I roll it in!
As my partner has drilled into me “never cut your own billing.”

If you don’t cut the crying time, then you’d have to lie in the description as to what you’re billing for. Also, crying time is not working time. It’s like billing for restroom breaks.
@A7, did anyone actually teach you what it means to ethically bill for a 6 minute increment? If no, definitely recommend reaching out to a senior associate or superior at your firm
