Do you struggle with being able to prove your competence? I don’t have convincing metrics that definitively show I make a positive difference. I think most of the work is collaborative. It is all about how you are telling your story. Whatever you did must have impacted something. You may not have led that project but may have managed a workstream or a part of it. I think everyone shares the overall success metrics, but you have to clarify your role in that. Are you specifically looking for resume improvement or talking points with prospective employers ?

like

Yes, my role is actually quite rigid and defined. I play a part in many different projects, which are assigned at random. There is just no way to think “X partner/director/manager said they liked my work, therefore I am helping the client.”

So I had an interesting chat with a recruiter today, so here is a thought - there are less opportunities for a candidate with 4/5 years of public exp vs. someone who is gone after 3. Any opinions ?

We have made an aggressive offer in Soma area NJ (25% over asking). We understand the appraisal might come in lower than offer. But hoping it'll be significantly higher than list price. At what point does it stop to makes sense to continue and pullout. If we stick to what deposit we have put down in the offer and need to make up the 20% over ask I think we'll have to dip a lot in to our savings. We'll be basically putting in 45% of the offer out price.
