If the food is not edible and it was made incorrectly, I ask politely for a replacement. But I’ve never had that happen in SF Bay. How picky are you?
I have waiters who told me the portion is for entree and got served a plate that is not enough to feed an 8 yr old. Another scenario is a side dish that is wayyyyy too salty. (Latter case validated by a few people who ate with me, all are used to heavy spices)
Wouldn’t call myself picky by having a problem in either of the case.
So even if one simply don’t like the taste, the correct answer is to be polite and not be honest? (They why ask?)
No - I let them know I didn’t like it and I order something else. I also usually expect to still pay for it though since I ordered and didn’t want it. This rarely actually happens to me, but usually server / restaurant are really understanding and don’t charge for a dish someone doesn’t like
