Anyone know the current processing time for H4
Don’t think so but I have seen Americans climbing up the ladder easily in comparison. H1B holders have to work harder to reach the same level in many cases. I think that’s how the immigration system is expected to work. No complaints when it comes to compensation for the designation I hold

Correct. Your opportunities are reduced since many employers won't sponsor, in addition to the admin overhead.
Less so on pay, I think it’s more on freedom & mobility to try other opportunities/companies
Not necessarily. If you were not an immigrant, you have the liberty to do something completely different that may not be financially motivated any time, eg, quit job to run a business, change career/role, take a sabbatical etc.
Only Indian origin companies treat their employees differently based on their nationality as far as the compensation goes but rest of the companies are fair with everyone wrt pay and I also agree on what EY1 stated on “the climbing up the ladder” part.
Although it’s not fair but we tend to forget that we signed up for this when we submitted the H1B application.
Yes, I have had the first hand experience - Treatment is utterly poor and discriminatory on so many levels.
It is very sad and sickening to say being indian that I don’t want to work for any Indian or Indian origin company.
The ones that work for the WITCH companies sure are. The rest - Not generally.
But how come DOL is unaware of this issue for so long. Afaik this has been going on since time immemorial. Don’t even want to get started with the visa abuses they do.
Not really
Don’t forget that vast majority of companies don’t have an ability or desire to sponsor H1B visa
Absolutely they are. I've seen many H1-Bs scared to rock the boat. Labor mobility is one of the best ways to increase one's total compensation; when that power is neutered it undoubtedly affects not only the H1-B's salary, but all of their peers as well.

Maybe those that work for some shady body shops but in general no.

Not really compared to other workers at same job/level/company…but compared to workers with same education/experience/other stats just not on a work visa…? Maybe.
Although I will say! I’m ROW, but the other people in my grad school program who started at the same level at my same company but are Chinese, they have job hopped a lot. GC is far off for them, so they would rather job hop to increase that TC as their priority.
I think so. They had to bump up my pay when they started the h1b process and their explanation was they had to show that I was paid the same amount as my peers. So basically for 2 to 3 years I was underpaid even though I was a high performer.
Not in my experience. Prevailing wage determinations usually come in above my non-H1B visa employees resulting in H1B visa holders making more than my non-H1B visa holders or we raise the entire market so that all are making the same.
