I interviewed for Data Analyst role at EY, it went well and the job sounds great, but I'm a bit hesitant to leave PwC because I really like the firm and I'm just 8 months in my job as an associate at a subgroup of ITS that has some focus on technology and analytics but it's mostly tax compliance.
I do want to transition to data analytics but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to go to another big 4, or maybe just look for a position in industry.
Any advice or similar experience?
If you are starting as an Audit Associate some time from now with Deloitte or any of the big 4, do they expect you to have passed/completed all 4 parts by the time you start? Received the Becker Reimbursement email from the recruiter not too long ago but have yet to start. I’ve seen plenty of people get to Senior at a big 4 firm without the CPA so I am a bit confused in that aspect. Any helpful feedback will be very much appreciated.

You know you’re a tax accountant if.....

Yep, gap between KPMG and RSM/GT is monumental. RSM leadership also clearly communicates that they don’t have the desire to be B4, and the firm strategy isn’t aligned to make that move (middle market “exclusive")
It seems that all the Big 4 want to talk about now is Robotics and AI as the future of the profession as if all they need to do is outsource and run bot software overnight to track it all. The disaffection towards people and towards process will make the time ripe again for mergers, just in order to compete with shrinking margins. Big 8, Big 6, Big 5, Big 4. - we may see a Big 3 in the future.
It’s never someone from within the Big 4 that makes these posts. The little guys must be mixing the koolaide really strong this summer.
^ are you talking about yourself in the 3rd person?
Middle market exclusive would be such a nice mindset, I wish we could get behind that thought process.
Big 2 will never happen. The gap between 4 and 5 is massive as well
Too Big To Fail
I remember the 8.,the big 8.
Due to independence requirements, it won’t go below four firms. The federal government will simply issue fines in lieu of criminal charges.
Also, as noted by others, there’s a very large gap between the Big Four and the next tier of international firms, and that means the current B4 firms aren’t going anywhere .
GT has proposed possible mergers with other top 10 (non-B4) firms in recent years, but that hasn’t happened and likely never will.
KPMG 1, Gosh you’re even worse....... I told EY 1 they’re stupid because their narrow mind automatically thinks it can’t be someone from the big 4 posting this. I’m not talking about the actual question. No wonder you ended up at KPMG. Stay there.
Maybe KPMG will fall to Big 3, maybe some really strange mergers go down and we get five, but idk. We had big six pre-sarbanes oxley.
GT wants to be Big 4 too badly to merge with RSM who is happily focused on middle market and doing quite well at it. We like to throw away strong middle market clients for Big 4 cast offs. GTBDO
For the record, OP is from EY... Obviously the mid-tier firms aren't close to the big four in terms of size/revenue, but if a couple of them merged, they could be...similar to how the big 8 wound up as the big 4 eventually
Regulation in the US will never stop the big 4. It would have to be regulation abroad that forces their hand
Just a matter of time before it’s Big3. . .
Will stay Big Four. Regulators cannot afford to have Big Three..too little competition. After AA went down no other large accounting firm will ever go under again.
i guess we will see big 3 in near future .. kpmg .. future is uncertain
Senior Manager 1 is KPMG's future that uncertain is it that bad?
