Nah...may lose a little respect tho.
I am going to do a hot take and say I don’t think so. If I interview someone and like them
I’m not waiting for a thank you email I just say I like them let’s hire them. I’ve never considered that factor once. And if I don’t think they’re right for the job a thank you email wouldn’t change my mind either.
Not sending a thank you email may not cost you a job, but it certainly doesn’t hurt. Just do it!
Very possible. Tough lesson to learn.
Yes. But it would have to be a situation where everything else was equal between two candidates
Yeah. I’d say so.
Yep!

Some people are waiting on the thank you note to inform you of next steps. Thank you doesn’t come, neither does 2nd interview, offer, etc.
What about when there are multiple people? Say you had a personal contact from HQ agency reach out to contact 2 at other location who then sent directions to contact 3 at the same location to set up an interview with two creatives. I formally thanked the creatives and thanked the 2nd and 3rd in context with a more formal thank you to the 1st one.
Unfortunately I bet for some people it’s yes. Personally, I’ve always had communications move very quick. Interview, next steps, possible second interview, hire. Twice now I’ve not even had time to send a thank you before I heard from HR. It really depends.
