Not at the moment. They are not doing any technical work currently so I would be mistaken to say they are really doing anything meaningful. I would stick with the security firms like unit42, mandient and crowdstrike if you are truely looking at the cyber industry.
Yeah, I don’t really expect them to do much technical work, but I figured they might get some interesting engagements due to the nature of their firms
Also I hate to say it, but 60% of nontechnical cyber work is really just control auditing and program management. Cyber is hot so a lot of people are hopping on but this is really a deadend.
Agree about controls auditing. Boring but pays the bills.
I think you have to consider who does the hiring for cyber - are they going to be impressed by MBB? unless you are getting hired as a ciso by the board the tech firms will carry much more weight.
The benefits are good and pay is decent. But the technical work being done is a joke. Your technical skills will die if you don’t find a good project/team that does actual cyber thingz. As K1 said most of it is control auditing and paperwork.
Depends. I get the sense that it’s a IYKYK kind of thing. Been interviewing and I’ve had interviewers be impressed by the big D. And others who basically asked, “okay but what commands did you actually type on keyboard?”
Don’t get me wrong, cyber isn’t just technical work. There’s value to the auditing and PM stuff that you could learn. I get the sense people want PMs who are less technical who can talk to execs and clients but can understand leet speak.

Come to Accenture, we’re doing some cool stuff around detection and response. DM me for more info.

Depends on what kind of cyber work you want to do. Do you want to be super technical and dig into malware analysis or do you want to advise the CISO of a Fortune 50 company on how s/he should most-effectively structure their organization? If the former, go to Mandiant. If they latter, come say hey.
Heyyyyy. Any referrals to McKinsey? Dallas based
I interviewed with them a year ago. They really want to do strategy work and solve the "hard problems" in security and take a more holistic approach to risk (which includes security). From what I recall they were beefing up the technical skills on staff but still hoping to get the higher rates with the approach above. I talked with clients and those in industry about MBB and their brand did not resonate with the CIO,
CISO and below. Also did not resonate with a couple of CROs. I did not poll business leaders.
MBB dream big but dont understand that dreaming is only one part of the cyber equation. You need a firm that can propose a balanced and realistic cyber strategy that is operationally translatabale and executable. Thats where MBB fails, because they see Cyber as just another philosophical topic
