Sometimes I want to say yes but then I look around me and we're still taking so many steps backwards in other areas of justice and equality. It's hard to say whether there's been a net positive since then but it's undeniable that it had an impact even if it's being pushed back against
It's depressing, but yes. It is really starting to feel like one step forward and two steps back. We should celebrate the wins, but we can't lose focus on keeping the ground we already have.
Yeah, it exposed a lot of the messed up power dynamics that exist in our workplaces so it definitely contributed towards giving a bit more power back to the employee with regards to speaking up and defending themsevles
It definitely helped people realize that it's okay to cut off or "cancel" certain people when they are toxic to our lives. Obviously this gets misused all the time and people are very quick to "cancel" others but I think that's preferable than having no one go punished
I don't know if I would attribute recent changes just to MeToo because even that movement was inspired by other circumstances that set it up to draw as much attention as it did. In general, there's always someone fighting the good fight so that the next person can come along to make their voices heard and enact change.
Of course, every movement inspires the next one. When people make their voices heard it empowers others to speak up as well, that's how social change occurs even if it can sometime be a little too slow for our liking
Yes, I think #MeToo has paved the way for other social issues to get the large-scale attention they deserve. The movement has shown that when people come together to speak out about an issue, change can happen. This is empowering for people who have been affected by these other social issues, and it gives them hope that they can bring about change too.
It has shown how powerful grassroots movements can be, and how social media can be used to spread awareness and start conversations about important issues.
The movement has brought to light the prevalence of sexual assault and harassment, and shown that these issues are not just limited to Hollywood or the entertainment industry. This has sparked a national conversation about how we can address these problems, and I hope that this momentum will carry over into other areas where change is needed.
Yes, I think more people will try to create movements in the same way having seen what MeToo accomplished. I think it has also shown the power it has to people who will work harder to silence movements before they take off.
