PwC Tax Directors

Do you think the new PCLDE will change time to partner or “force” people out earlier if they aren’t on the path? The total years to P in my group has varied from 12-18 in the last 5 partner classes.

I think it will be the latter. Time to Partner has already been growing longer over time. The PCLDE along with the senior manager vs director title in tax will eliminate lifetime directors by only promoting those who will truly be entering the process.

Yes... so say the average time as director is 6 years. After year 3-4 if you aren’t in PCLDE do you think you’ll be coached out?

Sadly the quality of some new partners (including the past several years) shows me it really is more and more a case of partners making partners regardless of skill set. People skills are missing, business development lacking, demonstrable client relationships (to get strong fair fees and paid) are all too often missing. I'm seeing so called 'successful partners' agreeing to fees where even competitor's in the market say we're buying the work, then we're told to be more efficient and we get crap for bad financials. No-one enjoys those clients. But now people are leaving ... maybe the partner goes or his team will. Playing with planned rates to cover the poor financials can only go on so long. You're welcome to direct sound advice. I have given years to this firm, saddened to see this happening .... the clock is ticking

So in short, yes it'll take longer as the firm appears not to support best candidates, just whoever they want (regardless of capabilities). I see even those promoted to partner in the past few years have been turned down a couple of times (if only upward feedback existed the past five years and had an impact on promotion .... there would be teams with great people still and not nice to know recent promotes were passed over for promotion before).

Traveling 🐠 using EY for tax filing. Has anyone used the “adequacy review” offered to review if you were disadvantaged by working out of state and to request a true up? I incurred personal capital gains that are being charged by states I worked in but my home state has 0 income taxes, so I’m thinking this should be covered. Wondering if anyone has been successful in the review and can share experiences. $250 fee to initiate the review, reimbursable if they find money owed to you.

Help: Hey anyone successfully lost antidepressants weight? I got on mirtazapine right before the quarantine. I started to put on weight fast. At first I was happy because I was underweight (105lbs) but then the weight kept growing out of control. At my heaviest point I was about 140lbs, and 4 more pounds would put me in the overweight bucket. I stopped the meds 6 weeks ago and now 127lbs. I want to go down to 118lbs. I’ve been thin my entire life so I don’t have any experience in losing weight
