I work in manufacturing and have seen an uptick in employees abusing substances. We have a zero tolerance policy & are abiding by it. We have trained all out supervisor on reasonable suspicion & have provided them with tools to help identify. With that I’m trying to find ways to get to our employees who may be struggling BEFORE they decide to come to work impaired. Any ideas on what to do? We do have an EAP & are encouraging employees to utilize the services but it may be falling on deaf ears.

My biggest fear is that tomorrow COVID will not magically disappear like we’ve been hoping for

3 weeks ago Manager went all balistic on me because I did not coach the juniors at the time when I took emergency leaves for 2 days because my sister was hospitalized. Her words, "Problem sabki life mein hain, chutti mein kaam bhi dekh sakte they."

Now she was on leaves since 4 days because her daughter was unwell. I did not call or text her once out of courtesy and managed the work well.

To all the managers who say problem sabki life mein hoti hai, just stop there. Have some empathy.

Random thought but I was comparing how bougie partners at Big four or MBB firms are vs. Specialized Doctors snd Dentists, cause I know a lot of them from family and friends. I always felt that partners who are leading offerings and tenured don’t show off as much as MDs do. I don’t see them wearing fancy watches and driving extravagant cars as much, but I noticed Doctors and specialized dentists like Ortho, Perio etc show off a lot more when they get together.

Any parents who are still on the safe side with Covid? We have a 1 year old and being safe and staying mostly home is really getting to me. Most of our friends have kids who are able to mask up or are vaccinated and it’s getting quite isolating. Especially now mask mandates are being lifted feeling like we can’t go anywhere without risking our kid.

I've really let myself go over the crisis. And the thought of going back to the office looking like this gives me extreme anxiety. So, Mon I took control of my drinking and overeating. Feels great. 💪

For those ending work this summer could you help clarify how COBRA works exactly? I read that it’s retroactive up to 180 days, so does that mean I essentially don’t need to sign up and start paying unless I go 180 days? If something were to happen I can sign up for cobra after the fact and be covered?
