Do you think you would lose your job if you mistakenly left your work laptop in a Uber ? What would be the consequences ? Trying to retrieve it and hopefully I can get it back . Any advice on how to tell your boss what happened

You'll definitely get it back, especially if the Uber driver wants to keep HIS job.

like

You can contact Uber and they will contact the driver. For a small fee they will bring it back!

like

Did you sign a document when IT gave it to you?

Yes it’s so unfortunate the whole team loves me and I just know this doesn’t look good but it was a honest mistake

depends on how understanding the company culture it, idk you could say it was stolen 🤷🏽‍♀️🤷🏽‍♀️

I mean if the driver doesnt return it to you then ot WAS stolen.

like

Maybe they’ll ask you to pay for it, firing you would be too much. However, I’m sure the uber driver will be willing to return it.

I think losing your job is a severe sanvtion. They may ask you to exert efforts to retrieve it or just ask you to replace it. If you're in a good comnpany, they would provide you with another one.

Do what is necessary first. Contact Uber so they can look for the driver. Then tell your Boss. He would know it eventually so there is no point in hiding it. At least you are doing something to retrieve the property. If he fires you, at least you know the reason why. But I don't think he would do that.

OMG. Did you do that? I would cry.

How to deal with a Senior Associate who originates $300k to $400k annually but only bills 60-70 hours/month? This individual routinely "delegates" very simple assignments at 5pm due the next morning. Our firm has a 1900 billable requirement, which SA never gets remotely close to but they "bring in business." I'm well on track to hit my hours and find it extremely annoying that I need to keep sacrificing my evenings to work on dumb fire drills for someone that bills less than half what I do.

My co-worker is so resentful and competitive because I was promoted over her last year which caused a demotion on her end. People in the company still go to her for things that should be for me but she rarely corrects them. Shes still involved in the company too in a way that allows her to know secrets that I should know about but never do. I technically am above her within the company but this is how things are. I just do my job and try to not let it bother me but it does. Any suggestions?

I could use some advice on this situation. I’ve been working for a small family owned business in Toronto Canada for about 4months. I’ve noticed a lot of unprofessional behaviour since I’ve started (yelling at workers infront of customers) I’ve bounced around different positions so much that the owner blames 98% of stuff on me when something isn’t done, even if it’s not my responsibility anymore.A week ago I asked for an employment contract to get this straight but nothing yet. What do I do?

Mid level atty in a fast moving case. Earlier this year jrs brought on the team to help lessen work flow. Both partner and I delegate certain tasks, esp when we’re super busy. Junior goofed regarding deadlines (which I had to ask for twice); now partner is stressed, tho we should be able to lock in an extension. Jr took ownership of the slip up. I owned that I should have checked his work, but I feel that I hurt my rep. w partner. What to do? Lay low? Not a fan of throwing ppl under bus.

Two of my really good friends at work have had their work dry up in the past few months (because of the Rona). I'm like two months ahead of them on hours, and they're worried about not making their minimum billable requirements.

Feel sort of guilty and try to avoid talking about hours with them. I'm just hoping the firm doesn't give them trouble...

Didn't end up making the cut in Strategy consulting case interviews. Would really like to do strategy / S&O some day. I love using data to inform decision-making.

Wondering if it would make sense to continue consulting in implementation then try to pivot again in the future or at another level - or drop consulting & try to get a strategy job at a startup or maybe do something else at a larger company and try to pivot internally.

Background is tech + MBA. Any insight appreciated!

I work for a 350~ company who is growing rapidly through M&A. Passions/interests are compliance, strategic vision, M&A, branding and culture
