This school year has been very challenging to me. I’m a instructional aide,one-on-one, in a general education classroom. Teacher has never really made conversation with me, sometimes I force a ‘good morning ‘ from her. Her silence around me just makes me uncomfortable and not welcomed in her classroom. She has made comments towards my student, saying that he doesn’t need an aide, or that students don’t need ‘babysitter’s at school’. Has any aide experience this in classroom?

Has anyone tried this in their classroom? Is it effective or a waste of time?

Dropping this in a few bowls, sorry if you see it twice.
I'm transitioning from teaching 8th grade mathematics at a public school to teaching a 7/8 self-contained classroom at a charter school.
Any advice for teaching mixed grade levels or multi subject is appreciated: scheduling, classroom setup, subject order, behavior management, etc. I'm struggling to find my rhythm with only 6 weeks before kids return.
Thanks to everyone for your commitment and time, enjoy your summer!

Remember the days where teachers kept to the facts and our curriculums, no opinions, no politics, and we just loved kids? We didn't treat kids (or our colleagues) different or better because of their labels or the letters behind their names. Special treatment was taboo because we strived for equality. Yea. I miss those days.

I’m in a pickle. I have recently started an industry role after government consulting. My goal was to work for government, but ofc that was difficult to land. Anyways, a month into my new industry role, I got an interview for a government role which I had applied for previous to joining. Which if I landed, I’d take in a heartbeat! How do I explain this to my new employer? I’m so new.

I just left one job where my boss refused to train me and wanted me to figure everything out on my own. Started a new job and in the exact same situation again. Is not training new employees the norm now? I realize that I’m coming in with experience, however every company does things differently. Plus this is a totally different industry. I ask my boss question and get no response for days. Then he follows up to ask if the task is complete. Where is the dIsconnect and how do I address it?

Lately as I've been WFH I've been pretty good about ending work at a reasonable time, say 7pm. But recently a couple deals I'm working on have hit the home stretch. I've been working slightly longer, but nothing crazy. When I try to get to sleep though, I think about the deals and all the ways it could go wrong and how to have contingency plans in place. It's been hampering with my otherwise healthy ability to get to sleep. Can anyone relate / have any suggestions?
