Do you trust people who have coding certificates more, or people who are self-taught?

Depends on circumstances. If someone has a lotta experience in a different industry but wants to break into tech i think certs show that dedication.

Also think it’s nice for people that already have degrees to show they are invested in being life-long learners and getting certs.

Idk I’ve never been a hiring manager… so my opinion probs don’t mean much here lol

Trust any one who is curious and will keep learning or taking classes all the time. What is more important is the ability to learn and adapt.

like

self taught

Self-taught with experience or a solid portfolio to back it up.

Certs mean nothing

I am lucky enough to do both but not “coding certs”, however my college required me to get certs as part of the degree program (WGU).

As a self taught.. self taught lol. But really doesn’t matter after a year or two of exp imo

Self taught and personal projects. “Coding” certs mean nothing

Self taught!! There’s no comparison!

What do you mean by coding cert? Is that something like a Java certification, or an AWS Developer certification? Or, something more generic / basic?

Is such domain change encouraged within the big4 companies internally? And if not, then how much salary can I expect in other companies given that I have to start almost as a fresher again since the technology would be completely new to me?

If you were a junior creative with some experiences in big network agencies, what would you choose between these two :

A - Big network agency, working only on one account but doing potentially award winning work. Very ambitious and talented team.

B - New unknown agency with a small network backup but several accounts, competing for new clients and the will to win awards too. Two creative teams for now but lots of ambition and possibly more growth and potential to evolve as a junior creative.

I recently started my first post-college job as a software developer and have to make a decision pretty soon: front-end development or back-end development. I really like being closer to the user and the creativity as far as front-end. But I also reallly really enjoy math and logic and the more complex side to back-end. My dream would be to do full stack but thats not an option. Scared of getting pigeon holed. Any suggestions as to what to do / tips?
