Do you work alone or with a team?

Part of a team

A mix of both. For specific targeted projects i lead a team, but overall I am part of a team

I work with a larger team, and we each have specialty's. But then during our team meetings we share knowledge to help build each other up.

I have another engineer who was hired at the similar time as me. We tend to work as a two person pair since our responsibilities overlap a little. I think of them as my ball and chain, always slowing me down. 😂

Hahah i have someone like that! However he is a bit older with foreign experience so maybe i am his ball & chain 😂

Both. If you want to advance to greater responsibilities and more management roles you should figure out how to do both. If you want to be happy you should find a good balance of what works for you personally. Typically those wanting to work primarily alone will be given more discreet tasks. Those thriving in team environments will be working on more broad reaching tasks and be involved with more innovation that springs from effective collaboration and integration.

Little bit of both.

Almost exclusively as part of a team... hard to be a manager if there's nobody to manage though, LOL!

I suppose that my position is kind of in between the two; it's true that I work primarily with other people, but it isn't the same people all the time. I regularly interact with people in logistics, product design, and the rest of the engineering staff as a whole. But it's always different people.

I mainly work alone, but I really prefer it that way because it makes it easier for me to concentrate. Might be nice if someone were there to remind me to go to lunch on time though, I kind of get a bit carried away :)

Any Bridge Engineers/Structural Engineers in here? I got my PE this year and have 5 YOE in TX + an MS. What sort of raise would you expect for receiving your PE working in a consulting firm? I'm at 78k currently, which is apparently still in the upper range of EIT salaries per a job posting in CO. I'm thinking of 15% (5% merit, 10% PE). Any ideas?
