Do your firms have any policies on joining attorney organizations? I’m in BigLaw at a v10 and to join my city’s National Lawyers Guild chapter, but not sure if I need to clear that with anyone and can’t seem to find a policy on it.

Is it the same as joining a state bar association? Would something like that need clearance? Thanks very much in advance.

I am a respiratory therapist for 10 years. I love my job and the patient contact. I am grateful for the difference I make in my patient’s life but the places I work at don’t seem to appreciate my efforts and under pay me. I am not interested in titles but I like a good working environment where everyone got treated the same and rewarded for their efforts. Thinking to change job so many times but so hesitant to take the first step. My dreams are traveling, shoppings and have a study income.

Is there a simple fix to remove the iManage number from the title of a PDF when I attach it to an Outlook email? My current solution is saving local and attaching from there, but there has to be a better way. Thanks!!!

Anybody struggling with fellow associates in big law? Currently working with associates that will stab you in the back at all costs and don’t care about building friendships, etc. This environment is mentally draining and I feel like I am an outlier for being kind. Truly shows that nice people finish last.

My firm has a 9-year partnership track as of a year or two ago. It has grown quickly from 5 to 7 to 9 in the past 10 or so years. In the written document that sets out the criteria for partnership, it basically says that your billable hours need to go up every year. Our minimum is 1900. I’m wondering how normal this increasing billables requirement is? I am torn between thinking it’s sensible and thinking it’s another example of law firms treating associates like machines.

Does anyone practice White Collar criminal defense in NYC or know a decent amount about it? Is it fun or fulfilling? Is it a good way to break into government work in the future?

How often are you looking for cases that not only state the law you are looking for, but also come out in your favor.

I'm looking for cases to defend a punitive damages SJ motion that I know I'm going to lose, and I'm trying to find a case that states the quotation I'm looking for, but they all then go on to dismiss punitive damages.

Do judges even bother to read these things?
