What leads you to believe it’s about dreams people have? As opposed to the needs of a given market. Or technology available to develop a product. Or the timing of demand.
As much as nobody likes to admit it, it’s as much as about being at the right place at the right time and knowing the right people to make it happen.
Dreams / ambition are as just a part of that.
I do impact venture investing. I’m on the board and actively involved with a fast growing impact driven startup. Still quite often I feel anxious about not doing enough and my life sucked away by my day job.
Yeah I think that’s a problem I face in consulting. Can’t imagine that the grass doesn’t look greener where you’re sitting to the people you help
All my dreams died when I started working in public
Create a vision board and have a journal with small steps you need to take to get there and every 3 months check in with yourself.

Nah
Used to. Now realize as my kids are growing up, I don’t care about that anymore.
Same. My dream now is for my properties to cash flow enough I don’t need to care about slides or answer emails anymore.
Another two or three years to go and no more offshore calls for me.
My dreams died.
I can’t figure out what I enjoy doing or what’s my passion
I do
I want to go into the federal government to make a difference and influence policy. However, the only jobs available are doing admin for big business...
Yes and yes.
yeah i wanna work to prevent human right violations in third world countries and other places around the world. i feel like it is my purpose in life. i know that sounds naive. i try to read/research about the causes i care about in my down time, donate and raise awareness about them in the meantime. long term i want to go to law school and go abroad to help victims directly via orphanages and other local organizations. but first. i have to quit PA lol i’m going to make it happen 🙏🏼
Yes. Learning to code now so I can test products in the market and saving a nest so I can quit and bootstrap as soon as I get traction. Idk about change the world (very lame mindset IMO) but passionate about building something useful from scratch and enriching myself in the process
np, used to work for a PE firm that bought companies in the bootstrapped space so have plenty of resources to point you towards
What dreams? We can't all be Elon or Bezos or Greta
Despite what you think of her, she's infinitely more powerful of a voice than any of us, even the high level Csuite execs
I mean...it is good to have dreams...
I don’t desire my own dreams. I just want to help other people build theirs.
That may seem like sarcasm but it’s 100% true
You could pull a Richard Branson and hire the right folks to run your firms. He said something similar to you, in that he loves creating and ideating, but the day-to-day operations of a business saps his energy.

My biggest dream is to find a new role that’s interesting (I know this is near sighted), I just get bored with my job every 2 years and always shop around. Meanwhile my friends are comfortable doing the same thing for a decade and going ...
You’re probably better off long term because you have changed jobs every few years. You have learned more about what management styles worked for you and have been exposed to a lot of different skills. Also, this is the most recommended way to ensure you’re increasing your pay! Some people get really comfortable and fear the change but I think it’s great you’ve been doing this!!
