@721 - Facade? Not untrue. Closed main office? Not true. We moved - from entire 3rd floor of a beachfront building to entire 2nd floor of a Silicon beachfront building. Downgrade? Yes. (Playa Pleasantville gives us the shivers. 😷 Dat why you never leave the office?)
Not gonna lie I've been at a few shops and yah it gets sweaty here but it's not that bad - depends on the brand you're on tho and the cycle.
Yeah, that seems to be the major knock on 72. I've also heard people say that they haven't made great work lately. Which is true of most agencies in LA. The only place I've seen do really amazing stuff is 180 and I've heard that place is just one big facade.
Ah sorry 1801 - I heard it from an ex 180 friend who went to visit - yeah Playa is cookie cutter living - welcome to the hood !
Omnicom has been making all of their LA agencies move into buildings in Playa for the past few years once their leases came up. Unfortunately, ours recently came up so we had the same fate. Omnicom crammed several of their agencies into one of the Playa Jefferson buildings the past 2.5 years. Thankfully, we have our own floor in a building down the street with no other agencies.
Also, we've had like 3 ex-180 people come by the new office (we haven't been here long), so I have a feeling I know exactly who said that. ;)
Oh man yeah 180 just closed their main office and is working in some shared space across the street now. True 72 loves to prototype but again it's brand specific adidas is still doing solid work.
72 was my favorite LA shop, but lots of good shops and clients here. (Especially when compared to majority of other US cities)
